It was career day for Lisa Heart's class. Parents visited to discuss their work...
Kyle Klein's Father, co-owner of a Burger King franchise.
Bryan Porter's Father, a guard at Piedmont Correctional.
Dylan Martin's Mother, a teller at a Burger King franchise.
Lisa Heart's Mother, a legal clerk at HLWBM.
Paula Gross's Father, a tax litigator.
Beth-ann Miller's Mother, an analyst at LabCorp.
This last one caught Lisa's attention. Beth-ann's mother describing LabCorp as the...
...top blood lab in the country, receiving patient samples from around the country and even the world to be analyzed.
Beth-ann, the most popular girl in class was popular for her precocious interests in fashion, makeup, k-pop, astrology, gossip and tribalism. Beth-ann was above all a self-groomer, hairbrush always at the ready on her desk.
Beth-ann, your mom's job is interesting.
I guess... if you like blood.
Who doesn't like blood? Red blood cells carrying oxygen around your body to feed mitochondria.
Sure, like, while it's inside. Outside, it's gross.
While Beth-ann was distracted by basic biology, Lisa pulled a hair from her hairbrush.
When does your mom go to sleep?
What? Why? You're weird.
I want to know what kind of schedule I would have if I were to become a blood analyst.
I don't know, like, normal? After Colbert.
Your dad too?
Yeah... why?
No reason.
[Two Nights Later]
Lisa sits down at a tree. Binoculars dangle from her neck. She opens up the Coma Keeper in her lap. Attaches and turns on a small reading light. Laying in the Coma Keeper were two loose pages. Lisa unclasped the Coma Keeper's rings.
She guided a loose page through the rings, atop Donald Trump's page; a page that had been folded and had a snail drawn on it.
She guided the second loose page through the rings, atop the last; a page that had drawn on it a vertical line with two circles on it's left and one circle on it's right.
