After grabbing lunch, the hardest part awaits me; Finding a table. I couldn’t sit with my friends anymore. I walk around the cafeteria for a short while, before finding an empty table. I’m not hungry anymore, so I throw my lunch in the trash.
Lunch is over. The school is in a mad rush to the forest, where the hunt will be held. It takes a while, but everyone gets sorted out.
“Friends!” The principal shouts through a microphone. A wave of silence washes over the crowd. Everyone is hushed. “Welcome to the scavenger hunt. There are eggs hidden all over the forest. Collect them and bring them to me. Whoever gets the most eggs gets an automatic A+ in their P.E grades! A huge shout comes from the crowd. Everyone was determined to win. But at this point, I just wanted my friends back. I wanted to know why the eggs were so big. I wanted to know if I could make it into the school play. I wanted my life back.
“Three! Two! One! GO!” Before I can even think, students run off in all directions. I go as well, before remembering that I had left the eggs I had in my locker. Now I didn’t have a head start. The rest did.
It all happened in a blur. Okay, maybe, just maybe, it was blurry because I was running so fast, collecting eggs on the way. But none of them looked like the ones I picked up today. What if I had stolen animal eggs?! I can’t return them now. I would get caught in the process of returning them. I would have to keep them without anyone knowing. This would be the hardest task of my life.
