… Okay, maybe not that hard.
I did make it through the school day. Barely. But now it was time for the play’s auditions. I ran into the MPR. I saw a brown-haired girl standing on the stage.
“Why are y'all so late?” She said into a microphone.
“There’s something called a heavy backpack, y’know!” I shouted back. Laughter filled the crowd.
“They let us keep the eggs from the scavenger hunt!” Someone else shouted. Again, laughter. But this time, I was laughing as well.
“Well then! Let’s get started on auditions for The Dragon Keeper! I’m Miranda, your director.”
There were many different auditions, all for one of five characters. I, of course, was last. I then sang in the clearest voice I’ve ever sang.
“I am the dragon keeper, keeper of the dragons, As I fly high on an angel through the clouds, no one can stop me now, as I fly, As I fly high, Into the sky. I’m soaring on a dragon, And there’s nothing lacking, I can hear the voices of those who live in the stars shining bright above us, take my hand, young wanderer, we’ll go where nobody’s been before, and that’s where we'll soar.” As I sang, my eggs glowed inside my backpack.
