The whole auditorium erupts into applause. I feel amazing. Everyone else looks amazed, as well. I feel like this could be my thing. I feel like I fit in.
I spend the next few days caring for the eggs. They’ve started cracking, and I’m scared of what will hatch from them. I’ve been going without friends for a while now. It’s about time I get things back together.
That morning I rush to school. I need to get myself some friends.
It’s hard getting friends. It’s already lunch, and I’ve gotten nothing. I overhear my friends talking about the video game I introduced to them.
“In the Sims 3, if a meteor hits a building, all the sims will escape, unless they’re in a school, in which the sims will stay inside and die.*” When Rachel said that, I chuckled. I wish I hadn’t acted up. Maybe then, everything would be okay.
After school, I had the play. It was time for them to announce everyone’s roles.
“Ok. First, I’ll say who did not make it into the play.” Miranda went through all the names. I didn’t hear mine. She kept on saying names, but I never heard mine. At least, until she said it. “The role of Dragon Keeper goes to… Amanda!” My eyes widened. I ran up to Miranda.
“Are you sure it’s me? Is there another Amanda in this play?"
*This is true.
