“Is this prisoner…an escaped soul?” the doctor asked, she sighed.
“No, any demon would be able to tell that, hells…that guy would be able to tell if he’s dead if my guess as to that feather pendant is correct.” She said, “The information about Atlantis Iron is…very withheld except by the beings of Leviathan’s realm, other floors of the hells only hear the name of the metal when hearing stories of the strongest, most deadly and most dangerous weapons sense the creation of all.” She said, twiddling her fingers, “You need to call or find someone with connections to Leviathan.”
“And who would that be?” the doctor asked
“Anyone of an aquatic and demonic race would instantly have connections, but all merfolk, triton and any and all aquatic races swear fealty to Leviathan…but…I’m not sure as to who would be able to contact them.”
“Have…have you ever heard someone referred to as…Emperor of Typhoons?” I asked, she looked at me confused.
“Oh…” she said quietly before her eyes went wide, “Oh! That is the most…recently made title for Leviathan’s son, he’s a very, very powerful, ancient and beloved deity sea serpent…on the east coast. He’s called The Prince of hurricanes, typhoons, earthquakes, tsunami, thunder, lightning and storms, lord of all ocean predators…across the other layers of the hells. That’s all I know about him…the name he goes by now, where he is, what kind of life he lives or anything of that sort…that is…nowhere close to something I would know.”
“It’s fine…thank you” the ER doctor said, the demonic womaned nodded her head before rather shell-shocked walked out of the room and down the hall. “You should…probably head home, Mister March, it’s extremely late. I can assure you, we’ll call you if anything happens.”
“Are you sure?” I asked as I rose to my feet, he nodded.
“You found him, so…when we get those things off him, you’ll probably be getting a thanks or something from him, but…please, everyone needs rest.” He added as he softly rested a hand on my shoulder before walking out of the room. I looked towards the man on the bed as I reached over and rested my hand on his leg for a moment before I turned and walked out of the room.
As I walked down the hospital halls of the early, early morning, my dress shoes clacked on the linoleum as the lights were dimmed and that ever so pleasant buzzing of the florescent lights droned in the background. The sound of people screaming in pain from the floor above as the maternity ward blaring at the edge of my hearing while the wails of people crying from family members dying was at the forefront because of my magic.
“Dad…if you can hear me…I may need a word or two…I…I need help” I said quietly as I grasped the pendant around my throat. The opal carved feather softly thrummed warmer for a split second before fading back cold. “I…I’m confused and worried” I whispered to myself as I gripped the pendant.
The drive home was normal for me save for the location I started at, the long monotonous streets with the hypnotizing passing of overhead streetlights, the scent of a coming monsoon heavy in the air of dust, rain and wind, the sound of the traffic around me and the washing colors of all of the buildings to either side. The low thrum of the engine through my legs and the clicking of passing radio stations, the dark, dark night sky free of stars from the light filled din of the city, all making the usual patchwork chaos that is the metropolitan Phoenix area.
I parked my car in my usual spot as I got my jacket from the passenger seat along with my bag and things before I started walking into the building, the hall lights of the flat building bright as they usually were, my footsteps quiet clicks against the tile as I made my way through the halls and up the lift towards my flat.
