“Hey, Eliza!” I called out from the desk of Reliquary, I heard rapid footsteps upstairs before she bolted down the stairs, a rather frilly and dusty apron tied around her hips, a rag in one hand spotted with various cleaners, dust and a spot of cobwebs even.
“Yes, sir!?” she asked
“Do you know these two?” I asked holding my phone to her to show a picture of those two from the news earlier, the Vargas. She laughed as she looked towards them, Eliza has always been…a bit man hungry, both mentally and physically, she’s obsessed with relationships, but she as a cyclopes also eats humans.
“Of course, I do, sir…you know I keep offering to teach you how to navigate social media” she laughed
“I’m fine”
“Why so interested in those two?” she asked as she walked over to a shelf and started dusting some glassware, Eliza is also germophobic and a neat-freak, both of which are reasons I hired her, not only is she extremely gifted in the realm of retail services and handling everything here, but she also is obsessed with keeping these clean. When I was busy with the interview before hers, I walked out and she had started cleaning things because she was bored. When she sees something disorderly or dusty, she goes into this near manic rage and just furiously cleans until everything is spotless, but she keeps the shop organized, clean and is fantastic with customers, I’ve even trusted her with handling a good bit of paperwork when it comes to things like orders.
“I keep…I keep hearing and seeing these two all over.”
“Well, yeah…not every day that there’s an anniversary of an archdemon prince and a god.” She said as she dusted a shelf with a spring in her step and a laugh on her voice. She’s definitely quite cute, but she’s not my type. I may be bi, but I still have my own tastes and preferences, I’m…a bit tired of hearing about bisexual people depicted as sex obsessed weirdos by others.
“What archdemon is his parent by the way?”
“Let’s see…I’m sure he mentioned it somewhere or at some-point…” she said as she twirled a bottle of glass cleaner around her finger before spraying the door to a curio case and started meticulously cleaning it. “Oh…that’s right…nearly forgot” she added with a laugh, “You know how my people are the assistants to Hephaestus and the most famous of us is…a son of Poseidon?”
“Polyphemus, right?”
“Yes, sir…well, I remembered a story that my abuela used to tell me when I was a kid” she said with a soft laugh, “She claimed there was only one being whom Poseidon would bend the knee to.”
“Who?”
“The world serpent.”
“Jӧrmunganr?”
“That’s one of his names, but my grandmother would always refer to him by his English name…Leviathan.”
“Is…this…Kálmán…Leviathan’s kid?” I asked, she laughed.
“March…who doesn’t know that Kálmán Varga isn’t the son of Leviathan, he’s pretty open about talking about it. Not every day you hear about someone killing a god, no…though I think when all of that happened was when you had to go on that…extended stay in your father’s realm and…I know how time works there. Same with when he gave his now husband that god’s divinity, the god he killed was Eros, so because he was in the sister pantheon to my people’s cause…by my race I’m of the Greek pantheon.” she said with a shrug, almost every word she said punctuated by a squeak of her cleaning rag on the glass panel of the curio case before she looked up towards me and quickly walked over towards me. “Is something wrong, you look pale?”
“Nothing, just…I think that I may need to figure out how to contact him.” I said quietly as I realized that if I could get into contact with him…I may get some information into who and what that man in the hospital is.
