The scalliwags held me in a hard grasp as they “escorted” me to their captains cabin. I thought this was just gonna be the old boring escape route, thinking that when the night arrives I would just lockpick the lock with a nail and escape with the closest yawl in hand. Though this event might actually play out in my favor.
I had lied about who I was, putting my acting skills in play as to make sure they wouldn’t get rid of me. Not all pirates appreciated one another, something I had seen before first hand. All pirates have a wicked mind of their own, willing to kill if there ever were a price to it. I had never seen or heard of “The Lone Rose” before, making me unsure of the type of “greeting” they would give another pirate who wasn’t one of their own.
The Scurvy dogs shoved me onto a wooden chair, tying me up with my hands behind my back as they left me alone in the big dark room. It was quite an ordinary Captain's cabin, having a bed in one side of the room and a wooden desk in the other. Only a few pieces of furniture could be seen, a medium long bookshelf filled with some leather covered books and a chair fit for a captain. My eyes traveled along the walls, not a single decoration or trophy could be seen, something that was quite different from my own cabin.
Before the door even had opened I had sensed the Captain of the ship's presence long before he stepped into the room. The blood pulsing in his veins giving him away as he closed the door behind him.
- Is your highness comfortable?
- Not in the slightest.
- Good.
As the last word left his lips he moved himself closer to me, his boots now almost touching the tip of my own black leather boots.
- You are nothing but a prisoner after all, at least for as long as you are on this ship.
- And how long may that be?
- As long as I see fit. Though I do wish to know a few things from you.
- And what makes you think I would tell you anything or share my knowledge with you?
- You have no other choice. It is either you tell me, or you die.
- ...Then get to it pirate.
- Glad we could come to an agreement. I wish to know what you were doing so far from home, with a lone ship?
My mind ran through a few options to tell the man, deciding it wouldn’t hurt to stick to some of the truth.
- The royal navy ship you just sank, were sent to rescue me. Some other pirates had kidnapped me before you.
- How unfortunate for you to meet the same fate twice. Unlike them I will not fail and die to a mere Briton. Must have been weak pirates. Regardless, I wish to know one more thing. Are there other’s searching for you nearby, or more Briton’s close by?
I quickly shrugged off the insult, knowing very well it was not the truth.
- None that I’m aware of.
- For your sake I hope you speak nothing but the truth.
- Do my words seem untruthful to you?
- I have yet to meet a Briton who utters nothing but the word of the empire or pleads for their life to be spared. So I would not know a truthful Briton even if one were to walk up and spit in my face, for I have no trust in your kind to begin with.
- Then why care hearing my answers if that is the case?
- Simply to know if you are just like the rest. If your words are proven wrong before sundown, I will slit your throat with my own sword and let the sea carry your body into the depths of the ocean.
I let the man think he had me around his finger, swallowing as I bit down on my lip. In his eyes I seemed scared out of my mind, afraid to utter anything further. Just like I wanted him to. However little did he know I was laughing my arse off on the inside, amused by his arrogance.
I watched as he walked towards the door, two of his men who were standing on the other side keeping watch, until their Captain shared a few words with them. Not long thereafter the men walked up towards me, taking a once again firm grip onto my arms before untying me from the chair.
I let my act continue as I “tried” to pull myself out of their grip before I was dragged further down deck.
The Scurvy dogs dragged me down to the brig, shoving me inside one of the cells.
The force they used made me stumble, hitting the wooden wall of the ship before they turned the rusty key in the lock, effectively now locking me in.
- H-Hey! Come back here and unlock this door in an instance!
I let my words carry through the wooden planks, damning the pirates as I imitated a royal british arse. I gave it a minute before pausing the charade as I was by myself down here.
I let out a heavy sigh, smiling to myself as I couldn’t wait to see to see what the Captain would do here next.
