I crossed my arms, pacing along the captain’s cabin for the nth time as the incessant sound of the chain was getting to my head by now. Like a caged animal being isolated for too long.
I stopped in my tracks, clenching my fist as I had had enough of this prison charade. I sat down onto the floor, taking the chain up to my mouth before angrily biting onto the light metal. My first intention was to break the chain in frustration but as the taste of iron spread over my tongue I slowed down, biting it for the sensation of the cold steel grating against my teeth.
- I would not do that if I were you.
I hadn’t noticed Icarus walking into the room, his voice dragging me back to the present as I looked up to meet his blue eyes.
- Why?
- I’d imagine you have a better use for your teeth than attempting to eat through metal.
I let the chain drop down onto the wooden floor, its metal taste still lingering on the tip of my tongue as I stood up once more, ready to give him a piece of my mind.
- Then untie me! I have had enough of being stuck to this despicable wooden junk!
- First and foremost, she has a name but I don’t see why I would tell you since you clearly lack any form of decency. As such, you are staying in here until further notice.
- Ever thought I might show some respect if you were to not treat me as an animal?
- You are my prisoner, or more so glorified cargo by this point.
I narrowed my brows in a frown, frustrated by the man before me lack of neutral understanding.
- I'm not your anything, I have played along nicely up until now, but you're really taking the piss now-
Icarus said nothing as he walked towards me, taking out a pair of shackles from behind his back as I stopped in tracks, baffled by the action.
- W-Wait, what are you doing?
Icarus stayed silent, looking right into my eyes as I couldn't help but start walking backwards, unsure of what to do as I both wished to stay obedient and rebellious.
But as there was a sudden pull I fell, the short chain around my ankle coming to a halt as I hit the floor. I landed on my side, hitting my arm and hip against the wooden surface underneath me.
A little whimpering Ow escaped my lips as I slowly tried to raise myself up. However I didn't get the chance as Icarus placed his knee on top of my lower back, holding me down, taking a hold of my arms as he placed the shackles around my wrists, locking them in place behind my back.
- Now stay here, don’t do anything reckless.
With that he stood up, leaving me on the floor as he walked out from his quarters.
As I was left in the silent pale room I couldn't help but let out a sigh, tired as I was starting to reach my limit. The dark circles under my eyes becoming more evident and the edges of my teeth getting sharper. I wasn't sure how much longer I could pretend to be fine, the starving sensation catching up to me as I longed for Gibbs cooking. The sweet image of the tenderness of meat lulling me softly, as I sunk into a light slumber.
A light vibration from the wooden floor reached my fingertips that was placed on its surface, growing into strong turbines as I started to wake up. My eyes flickering as they adjusted to the light shining in from the windows. As I came to, I could hear gunshots being fired outside of the wooden box I was currently in.
It took me a few seconds before realising the ship was under attack, roars being heard as the sound of swords colliding forcefully with each other now reached my ears.
Should I take this chance to get off the ship? As the thought went through my mind a heavy feeling was placed in my chest. I barely knew these people, so why did I feel bad to leave them behind?
I bit down on my lower lip, pulling my arms apart from each other until the shackles broke, the metal cracking as a few small pieces fell to the ground. I stood up, taking a hold of the other chain as I ripped it apart as well. There was still a few centimetres of the chain from my ankle being dragged behind me, ignoring its faint rattling as I walked up to the window. Opening it as I took the short knives from the wooden surface of the ship below it, having been there since I sneaked into the quarters.
Now being armed I kicked the wooden door down, joining the fight as I craved for some slaughter.
