I was hoping that today would be peaceful, however it was quite the opposite. I had gotten a text from Aria earlier in the morning, telling me to meet her and “the others” at the train station later for a hang out.
I could only asume by “the others”, that she meant her “new friends”. Both she and Evelynn had now forced me (in a friendly way) to have lunch with all of them for the past week. I had been having a hard time dealing with the Alpha known to me as Shawn. He was attractive, like almost the rest of the world's Alphas, but that didn’t distract me from the fact that I was uncomfortable and untrustworthy of him. I didn’t mean to feel like this or even come off as rude to him. My body acted on it’s own, never calming down and to be on guard at all times.
I rubbed my face with my two hands, frustrated by the fact that I had to keep being social with them. I don’t see this Shawn guy like the others do, to me he is just another selfish Alpha like the rest of them.
I tried not to think more about it and got my gray denim jacket on before heading downstairs to put my shoes on.
- Are you going out?
I looked up to the doorframe where my mother was standing, looking at me with a curious stare.
- Yeah. Aria wanted the group to get together and do something. Not sure what it is yet though.
- Sounds like fun. Just make sure to get home by midnight at least.
- Of course mom.
I got up from the bottom step of the stairs, giving my mother a peck on the cheek before heading out from the apartment after saying goodbye.
I was walking down the street at my normal pace, having one of my hands in my front jackpocket and the other texting Aria on my phone.
She let me know that they would be there soon, as I arrived at the station. I was about to go and find a bench to sit and wait but before I could a familiar face walked up towards me. Of course it was the Alpha.
I gave him an awkward smile before giving him a once over. He had light blue jeans which seemed to fit perfectly over his bottom half, combined with a dark grey coat, covering his black turtleneck underneath. You could clearly see he had a sense of fashion, making me unsure if I put on the right clothes for the hang out.
- Seems like I’m not the only one early.
I said with a half serious voice, almost rolling my eyes at the unhappy situation I had now found myself in.
- Looks like it. I like to be punctual, even if it’s a casual hang.
- Of course you do.
There was an awkward pause between us before Shawn tried to make some smalltalk. Making me hope that the others would hurry up and get here.
- It’s really getting cold huh? I wish summer had gone on for just a bit longer.
- I wish winter never was a thing. I hate it.
- Oh really? Why?
- ...It’s cold.
- Winter can’t help it’s cold though. It’s a part of its character, if there’d be no cold, would it even be considered its own season?
- I guess. Doesn’t mean I like it more though.
- Well, everyone's allowed to have their own opinion. That’s what makes us all different from each other.
- ...Is that your honest opinion?
- Sure. It’d be a real sad world if we all thought the same.
- ...Yeah sure.
I said half interested as an end to our conversation, not wanting to really talk much more. Thankfully I didn’t have to as the others finally arrived at the station, joining us before making our way towards our destination. I tried to ask Aria where we were going but she refused to tell me as she wanted it to be a surprise. It didn’t take long before my questions were answered.
A Bowling hall.
We were gonna be bowling together. I could almost feel Aria and Evelynn tease and laugh behind my back. Both of them knew that I sucked at bowling.
I sighed, thinking about how I would get out of this with my pride intact. Everyone started right away to change their shoes after getting an assigned bowling lane. I was the last one out, slowly making my way over to the others with my jacket in my hand. The bright oversized yellow hoodie I was wearing underneath kept me warm as I took a seat in between Evelynn and Shawn. I tried to convince Evelynn to change seats with me but she refused, saying that she wanted me to warm up to the idea of having an Alpha near me. I get why they are doing this but sometimes it can be too much.
I tried to make myself smaller, not wanting to cause any annoyance from Shawn if I would accidentally bump into him. I gazed over at him, locking eyes with his light brown ones. I didn't look away, instead I used this opportunity to get a closer look at him, watching his expression turn into a questioning one.
As the others started to choose their bowling balls and getting them into place, I broke eye contact, before joining in with the others.
I chose a lighter bowling ball than the others, as I hoped it would make it easier to score.
It would take a little while before it was gonna be my turn though, as both Caspar and Aria were placed before me. Aria did her thing like always and scored a perfect strike, making me believe she chose this activity just to brag. Caspar however made me shuckle as he tiptoed over to the edge of the lane, bending down to a squatting position as he rolled the ball instead of throwing it. I almost couldn’t believe it when he actually scored a strike. I could hear Aria going off on his way of playing, how it wasn’t a “correct form”. Caspar simply shrugged, saying it worked just fine, only making Aria more annoyed at his complete lack of sportsmanship. Simon joined in not too long after saying how that’s cheating and that he always does this. I couldn’t help but smile as I tried to hold in my laughter, making me almost tear up. It soon disappeared though as it was finally my turn. I tried to concentrate, not sure if that would make much difference before throwing it. I swung it onto the lane, hoping that I would hit most of the pins.
I died a little inside when the ball didn’t even touch any of them.
