I sighed, exhausted after a rough morning with math as the first lesson then French as second. What made it even worse was that I had been having a small headache since I woke up, and taking painkillers did not help.
I got to my locker in the busy corridor, full of students that were just as happy as me that it was now lunchtime. My arms were full of books from my earlier lessons, making it hard for me to punch in the code to my locker. As I was just about to put in the last combination, I could feel how I was losing my grip on one of the books. There was no way that I would be able to catch it in time and closed my eyes to ready myself for the impact. Only that there wasn't one to my suprise. I opened my eyes yet again, revealing Shawn, holding my book just inches away from the ground. He straightened himself as he stood up, meeting my eyes as he did.
- Nice catch.
- Oh. Uh, thanks? Here you go man.
He handed over my book, giving me a small smile as he did. I didn’t hesitate taking it, placing it with my other lecture books in the locker as I did.
- Thanks.
I couldn’t help but notice that he stayed, leaning back against the locker beside mine, watching me rummage around with my stuff.
It had been a month since I started hanging out with these guys, and somehow I still wasn’t 100 percent used to having Shawn around. I had noticed that for being an Alpha he was extremely kind, which was an uneasy feeling that I couldn’t shake off. It was like I felt as if he would do something if I let my guard down, never letting me have a break from it.
- Have you... thought more about the upcoming Halloween party?
Since the beginning of October, Aria and Simon had been going on nonstop about a Halloween party, wanting all of us to go together as a group. Now that it was only two weeks left, people had started to plan for the big night, even getting costumes already. To be honest, I was quite nervous about the whole ordeal like, dressing up, partying, drinking; it was something I was not used to as I would usually stay at home during parties, studying. Which in turn, made me seek information or inspiration from the others.
- A little... Not sure what to do yet though.
- Oh. Well it’d be nice if we could all go together, but no one’s forcing you.
- If the whole group went, what would you dress up as?
- Well, I don’t want to spoil anything, but let’s just say I’m going all out this year.
- Seriously? Come on I need some tips here. It’s my first Halloween party.
- Really?? Ok, I’ll just let you know, as long as you come in there with an outfit that can make every single jock choke on their shit-beer at that party, you’ll have a great time.
- And how do you think I will manage that when I don't know what level that is?
Shawn smirked, giving me a chaste once-over all sultry-eyed, before looking back up and meeting my eyes once again.
- I think you’re honestly already half-way there. You just need to get an outfit that really brings it home. I’d suggest something tight, dark and perhaps leather.
Before I had the chance to blurt out some shitty response to his sudden mood-change, he had already walked off, a cheshire-grin plastered across his face with a hint of mirth in his eyes. There was the alpha in him, for the first time since I met him, I’d seen a piece of his true alpha, a cocky little shit.
