Everything was slow for once as Commander Moon was laying on her back, staring at the ceiling of her den. These days, she contemplates whether Moon Family is doing good as all they’ve ever done was attract bad guys and trouble. She then thought about Fireblaze’s story from when he was Trainee.
What if Porphyry placed a spell on us to attract trouble? Commander Moon wondered as she turned to her side. She closed her eyes as she remembered the trouble that Spellcheer brought to her Family. Ugh, what am I even talking about?
Sighing heavily, Commander Moon got to her paws and decided that she was going to leave camp to get away from her negative thoughts. It was aggravating that being in camp wasn’t as peaceful as it used to be during the first months of her journey.

Outside camp, Commander Moon breathed in the fall scent as she saw leaves drift to the ground. As she walked, she started to think about Sir Flock and how he couldn’t marry his Starbon fiancé Sienna. I wonder how Sir Flock will marry Sienna, she thought to herself.
Shaking her head several times, Commander Moon didn’t want to start thinking about someone else’s despair right now. When she cleared her thoughts, she found herself standing right at the beginning of her old neighborhood.
Turning back, Commander Moon only saw the peaceful flower meadow and counted it a miracle that Flowerseed and Foxsoul didn’t stop her for trespassing like they’ve done before.
“Have you seen Average Bleck recently?”
“Gah!” Commander Moon yelped before spinning around to see a fluffy tom staring at her with dull green eyes. He looked as if he took one too many drinks. She thought back to what she was asked and smiled. “Oh, I believe there’s a Wheat in Raven Family,” she purred.
The housecat slumped over and groaned. “I said Average Bleck, clumsy girl!” He mumbled under his breath and Commander Moon could barely understand what he was saying.
Commander Moon only shrugged before padding away from the strange tom. Maybe hanging out in the neighborhood wasn’t a good idea right now since she only saw weird cats.

Once back at Moon Family, Commander Moon stopped when she spotted Commander Hawk whispering to some ragged brown and black tom with blue and green eyes. “I’ll promise you a safe spot,” Commander Hawk told him.
The rogue only nodded his head at this idea and Commander Moon continued her way back without bothering to question what was going on. She trusted Commander Hawk has the best judgement concerning rogues.
At camp, Pigeon flew over her head. “Monthly Meeting is tonight!” He chirped as he left to go see his good friend Mountain. Commander Moon was hoping it wasn’t tonight.
Of course it’s tonight, Commander Moon thought as she dragged her paws. She then looked up at the sky and faintly saw the moon. Wonder where that Epic Supreme went?

“I hate this stupid cold season,” Bluestripe muttered to Sparrowclaw as they padded behind Commander Moon and Lostleap. The Moon Family Commander was getting exhausted by the day from expecting her next litter of kits.
Sparrowclaw smirked as he lashed his tail. “I prefer being chilly than the insufferable heat,” he meowed. Bluestripe rolled her eyes as she grumbled some insults about the fall and winter seasons.
Once they reached the island, Commander Moon tilted her head when she didn’t see Commander Hawk in sight. His Campmates were here since she spotted Suntail showing off some moves to Trainee Daisy and Trainee Shooter. Was he sick?
“Do you know anything about Commander Hawk?” asked Commander Moon when she gazed at Lostleap.
The gray tom squinted his good eye at the purple tom sitting in Commander Hawk’s usual spot. Shifting his gaze lower, he spotted Spottedfur having a good chat with Waterheart and Foxsoul. “Well, he probably isn’t dead, I think,” Lostleap meowed.
Weird, he was fine a couple hours ago, Commander Moon thought, finding the whole scenario odd. She wondered if he caught a deadly virus or something as she headed towards the white tree. “Maybe Purple Guy over here has an answer.”
Hopping onto the tree, Commander Moon was met with the dirtiest glare she could imagine from the purple tom. His light blue highlights on his ears and tufts of fur gave the purple molly some unsettling vibes as she waved a paw at him.
“Nice to meet you,” Commander Moon meowed.
“Leave me alone, stupid cat,” the purple tom hissed as he inched away from her. He kept a narrowed glance on Commander Moon who glared at him for insulting him.
Don’t act like I killed Commander Hawk or whatever! Commander Moon growled under her breath. Whoever he was, he clearly didn’t like her at all. It’s not like she did anything to him.
There was a light tap and she saw Commander Snow as he swished his tail back and forth in a cheerful manner. “That’s Commander Purple, he’s a substitute for your buddy,” he explained casually.
“What is she then?” Commander Moon asked pointing a white paw at Spottedfur who was shifting constantly as if something was crawling under her skin.
Commander Snow shift his gaze to one side as he covered his mouth. “Not sure, kitty, guess Hawks here needed a quick substitute,” he meowed as he shrugged. It didn’t make sense, but who’s to say Commander Purple would tell her the truth.
Spottedfur would never let this fool take her role, Commander Moon thought staring at Commander Purple with suspicion. What if that guy was responsible for Commander Hawk’s disappearance?
“I am sad to say my Commander has been violently attacked not long ago,” Commander Purple explained in a sorrowful tone. Commander Moon wasn’t sure if she could tell if he meant being sad. “I am serving his place until further notice.”
What if Enki’s friend did it? Commander Moon wondered thinking about Sonicslash. After all, Enki had saved the blue tom’s life before being struck dead. Though, Sonicslash seemed to have a different story that he never told.
Commander Color wagged his head. “The rogues must be getting agitated by the darkness and weird activities,” he sighed.
They all looked to Commander Wicked when she started clearing her throat. She then stared at the moon that was almost at its fullest once she had their attention. “I believe the strange man under the full moon is behind it,” she explained.
“That doesn’t make sense!” Commander Moon snapped. Why would Epic Supreme be behind all this? He didn’t seem like the type of guy who is plotting their destruction.
Waterheart’s ear flicked to one side when he turns to face the Commanders. “How does it not make sense, Commander?” He asked before looking to Commander Wicked who was still staring at the moon. “I’ve heard of the old legend.”
Sighing, Commander Moon held one paw out. “The man didn’t seem that bad when my best friend talked about him,” she meowed. She wasn’t going to mention Enki’s name out loud, in case Misty Family had some words from Sonicslash. “Besides, what is this legend?”
Several of the Family members started murmuring with the younger members looking the most confused like Commander Moon. Others were nodding in understanding to the words Commander Wicked had spoken before Commander Moon.
“It speaks of a man who appears during the full moon,” Commander Wicked explained in a calmer voice. She was known for her fair judgement, which meant she had a lot of faith in this legend. “He is said to be a Bringer of Hope and Doubt.”
Commander Purple lifted a paw in the air as he started laughing, making Commander Moon growl. “Let’s band together and drive this fool out for good!” He declared.
“Do we have to?” Lightrain asked with a confused expression. She then shrugged when Commander Purple narrowed his eyes. “There’s no strong evidence, it’s fine.”
“Didn’t you hear Commander Wicked?” growled Commander Purple. Lightrain only looked away as she frowned causing some irritation in the young purple tom.
Was this legend true though? Epic Supreme was an oddball, Commander Moon would give him that, but he didn’t appear to carry as much power as Commander Purple is trying to make it appear. “It’s okay if they don’t believe,” Commander Wicked told Commander Purple. She placed one paw on her chest. “It’s a story I was told as a kitten.”
Aww, gotta admit that’s cute, Commander Moon thought. She nearly jumped out her skin when Flowerseed let out an exaggerated screech of annoyance.
“The Monthly Meeting’s over!” Flowerseed screeched as she hopped off the tree. Several members gave her weird looks as her tail was held straight in the air. “I’m tired of false legends! It’s ludicrous!”
“Gosh, guess we broke her,” Commander Snow said as he stifled a laugh.
“What a drama queen,” Commander Bird muttered.
Is she going to be okay? Commander Moon wondered as she hopped off her own tree branch. She gathered up her Campmates as she watched Flowerseed still grumbling on about the whole legend thing.
“Perhaps she needs a therapist,” Bluestripe suggested, and her Campmates shrugged. Who knows? Flowerseed was just weird in general, and Commander Moon could never figure her out sometimes.

As they made it back into Moon Family territory, Commander Moon stares at the moon. Next full moon, I’m finding Epic Supreme, she vowed to herself. Surely, he wouldn’t mind answering questions concerning Commander Wicked’s childhood story.
In camp, Commander Moon spotted a white molly kitten sleeping on top of Sheep’s head. One of her eyes opened, revealing her ruby red eyes before closing them. The mother must’ve found her while they were out at the Monthly Meeting.

The next day arrived and Heartfur cheerfully padded into her daughter’s den. She wanted to make sure everything was alright since she appeared so distraught last night. Commander Moon was lightly snoring until being nudged by her mother.
“Wakey, wakey, my sweet daughter,” Heartfur purred. “Are you okay to tell me why you looked so distraught?”
Commander Moon sat up and brushed through the tuft of fur on her head as she stuck her tongue out. “The Commanders are paranoid over an old legend,” she explained. Not all, but Commander Purple was dead set on pursuing after Epic Supreme. “I’m worried he might do something stupid.”
“Don’t worry, everything will work out,” Heartfur purred as she patted her daughter on the head. She then turned around as she faced the exit of the den with her head held high. “Why not an expedition to the neighborhood?”
“Mom no,” Commander Moon said bluntly.
“Mom yes,” Heartfur purred pulling Commander Moon out of her den. Why do they have to visit the neighborhood of all places?
