Adele from Just Leave Me Be inspires me. Despite being an orphan and growing up in a very difficult household, she is able to keep her dignity. She is given a second chance at life and does her best to live on, learning how to stand up for herself and to live by her good standards. (I also love the artwork.)

Michael (VP of Content)

Vicky Tan from DPS Only! Although Vic starts off as meek, she really grows and challenges herself in really exciting ways. Not starting off in a place of strength and still rising to the occasion shows a tremendous amount of courage and I think that's what makes Vic such a great, relatable and strong leading lady.

Kristianna (Translation Team Lead)

Leslie Shuya Speràdo from The Monstrous Duke's Adopted Daughter - Leslie is born into a family who objectifies her, as a means to an end. She is to be a living sacrifice to increase their family power and nothing more. Denied nurture and often even the most basic nourishment, Leslie survives through intelligence and perseverance, growing to be a strong, thoughtful young woman with a sense of selfhood long denied her. An added bonus, the Duke in the series is a woman warrior who inspires Leslie to be brave and stand tall.

Once, my coworker Tami told me that I need to read Blood of an Angel! She said that the protagonist and I are very similar... Then I learned that the main character, Aurora, was just chilling in her car, shades on, eating chicken nuggets, when she spotted The Villain-- she leapt out of nowhere and tackled him right then and there!! Anyway... I haven't tackled a villain... but this is the highest compliment I've ever received. Thank you to Maya, the creator, for sharing such a hilarious and wonderful story about a badass woman! We can only aspire to embody Aurora's strength~

Stephanie (Content Acquisition Manager)

Fangs from DPS Only! I'll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible but Fangs is someone Vicky looks up to and for good reason. A lot of people put her on a pedestal but she's just a person who wanted to have fun but found herself losing even when she was winning due to the enormous pressure put on her as a woman. Her experiences are so painfully relatable but she's still so compassionate and such a down to earth character. I really enjoyed her and Vicky's interactions!!

(PLEASE READ DPS ONLY! IT'S SO GOOD! Lots of amazing ladies! I BEG THEE. I promise it's worth it!)

My inspiring leading lady is not (yet) inspiring for her power, but for her resilience. The story of Al'vis, the main character in Arcane Flames, is still at the very beginning. We have a very limited understanding of what her powers may be and where her journey will lead her eventually.

Her struggles are so very real and relatable. She has lost everyone close to her, being the only left alive after a horrific incident (and probably dealing with a fair share of survivor's guilt). She has no home or family to return to, and society seemingly sees no worth in her. Yet she keeps moving, keeps living and keeps working through her trauma. I'm looking forward to seeing where her path will lead her, and hope that resilience will turn into strength.

Payton (Content acquisitions)

My favourite strong leading lady right now is Claire from the lesbian spy drama Hard Lacquer! She's strong, confident in herself, smart, not scared to voice her opinions, and has hintings at a much more complicated past. A very close second is Claire's bodyguard Robin from the same series, who is Claire's perfect foil: The strong silent type.

Anna (Content Ops Coordinator)

There's so many inspiring leading ladies on Tapas, but I have to pick Shuri from The Fantasie of a Stepmother! She's selfless, thoughtful, and both kind and strong. Even though there's so many people trying to take down her family, she stays strong and level-headed in the face of adversity! Her entire tale is so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I'm rooting for her 100%! If you haven't checked it out yet, this is a definite title to read in our library! :D

Jade (Localization Manager)

Haewon Tang from Master Villainess the Invincible, which is a new release! I LOVE her. She's not just mentally and spiritually strong, she's also super martial arts strong, and watching her kick butt with her newfound powers is so inspiring and also hilarious. I adore female leads who see kindness and being brave as their default setting, and dart out to save damsels in distress or devise plans to live their life out loud. I adore her so much, and the cast of characters around her are dynamic, hilarious, and awesome to watch. The art is beautiful, and the male lead eye candy only lends to the charm of this series. Haewon Tang, she's invincible!

Victoria (Creator Happiness Team Member)

Yvona from The Soulless Duchess inspires me through her determination to choose her own fate. She works extremely hard to become a powerful summoner and to protect others. She sticks up for herself and for what she believes in. I think a lot of readers can enjoy seeing her character growth throughout the entire series.

This was actually one of the first comics that I read on Tapas, and since reading this I’ve become obsessed with fantasy! Even if you are not a fan of fantasy, I still recommend giving this comic a try. It makes me so happy, and sometimes I cry only because I admire Yvona’s strengths so much!

We hope you enjoyed reading about these inspirational ladies! We can’t wait to hear who inspires you, so please make sure to take part in our little raffle mentioned in the beginning of this article!

Happy Women’s History Month!
