Officer Johnson Bardoe just couldn’t get the woman from the assault case out of his head. His friends had all made fun of him when he insisted that his future wife had to be well built, but he really thought muscles were extremely pretty. The combination of Ms. Smith’s tanned skin with the obvious muscles that her outfit showed off was truly beautiful to Johnson. Her personality was also straightforward and calm even though she had gone through something that could have been traumatizing. She was truly his ideal woman.
He was worried about how to create an opportunity to meet with her outside of work to get to know her better. He was very concerned about how she came to be in that situation in the first place, but he was just glad she had such good adopted brothers.
As he was worrying about it, one of his co-workers came in from being called to a tennis court incident.
“Hey John!” He came over to the desk next to him and smirked, “Saw your dream girl at the park today. And gotta say… she is a hot mess. Maybe shouldn’t be trying to pick up muscle girls who came in for assault.”
Johnson started to panic. “Was she hurt?!”
Officer Jay looked to him. “Seriously? I haven’t even told you what happened yet and that’s what you jump to?” He sighed, “But yeah she was. From some sort of power experiment.” He pulled out a picture from file to show Johnson. The picture showed her knocked out on the ground with over a 100 tennis balls all over the place, a broken machine and Greer with a broken nose, black eye, and scrapes from falling on the ground.
Johnson started to panic even more. He jumped up. “Which hospital did she get sent to?”
“None of your business central, at the corner of you haven't called her street and you ain't’ her boyfriend yet ya dip lane.” Jay grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back down. “Are you sure you wanna think about going out with her? It hasn’t been a week and she’s ALREADY in a mess, again.”
“I was planning on calling her soon. I’ve just been busy with work…”
“Or ya scared of being shot down hard by the girl who actually LISTENED to you go on about paperwork for…. What 2 hours? Get a pair man.”
“Fine! Then let me know which hospital she is at so I can grow a pair by visiting her!”
Jay rolled his eyes and looked at the paperwork sighing. “I can’t tell you she went to South Mary hospital and you certainly can’t use your badge to go in unless I forgot to tell them which officer was coming. Nor can I mention that she was going to the clinic side, not the ER side according to the weird guy with her.” Jay cleared his throat. “Nope, can’t tell you any of THAT… against regs.”
“And that is why I can’t call you the BEST friend ever.” Johnson smirks as he grabs his coat and hurries out.
Jay watched as he left. “Shit… he really did break regs over her… he’s got it bad.”
Johnson had rushed to get to the hospital, but when he got there the nurse had informed him that Greer had already been discharged and was no longer there. Saddened he turned away and put his hands in his leather jacket’s pockets as he walked out.
Surprise, surprise… He had put Ms. Smith’s number inside his jacket’s pocket. He took it as a sign from above. Grabbing out his phone he quickly dialed it before he could chicken out yet again. After a few rings he only got the voicemail. He got so nervous though, that he missed the timing to hang up.
“Hello, Ms Smith? This is Officer Bardoe. I just wanted to personally check up on you. I heard from my co-worker about your incident today and was worried about you. I know it has been an extremely stressful week for you, and sometimes it is best to just talk with someone to unwind. Call me back when you get this so I can know how you are doing or if you just want to chat is fine too… Well… Bye.” Johnson could feel himself blushing, but he had finally called her!
