It was same as always, when I opened my eyes I was sweating excessively my vision was blurry and I was hyperventilating as if I just came from a marathon.I wiped my eyes with the palm of my both hands and took a deep breath.
I tried to close my eyes once more but, no use that scene covered my vision again.
I knew too well I wouldn't be able to sleep anymore. It's kind of funny. I've been having this dream for 3 years now, but this sort of thing, you don't quit get used to you know.
I lay there gazing at the clock my ears drumming with every sound of its click, waiting for my cue and just as the clock hit 3, I jumped out of my bed, put on my hoodie and joggers, grabbed my beg and fwoosh–– towards the window.
My room was on the ground so I didn't particularly needed a ladder or something instead, a player. Yes, to pull out the nails sticking on the board covering all over the window. Carefully ripping them off so as to not make too much of a noise. I could have used the door sure, but I'm a coward, at least that's what everyone says and hey, even cowards have some dignity to keep.
The street was pretty much devoided, not that it's any different during the noon except for few guards here and there. However the black dye sky works to my advantage here.
---
I stand there gazing at the bolded big red sign, bulging out at the center of the 4 meter high metal fence wanly. Written in majuscule 'DO NOT CROSS' followed by a green skull and a pair of crossected bones in the background.
I gave out a yawn as my eyes wandered off to hundred different signs with the same underlying theme hanging one beside another like an uneven track of rails.
I let my eyes swing from my one side to another before climbing up the deteriorated iron pieces, only to find myself to be the sole breathing being around.
Those Oxidized metal gave out a yank with my every grip until I jumped on the other side of the barrier. And as soon as I did my sense alarmed me with a sudden drift in the aura.
The air got even more heavier as I started to move deep inside of what seemed more like an ancient regime or a desolated wilderness then a barren city. Thick smell of molds, growing out of the cracks of the walls, hit my nostrils, just before a weak moan appeared behind me only to be accompanied by hundred more of its' kind.
A frail limping silhouette started moving towards me as the sound became more and more conspicuous. My right hand shot out before my face when I saw a man in a dull green checkered top with a coffee brown trousers, tattered horribly around the ankle.
His face was covered with bruises and a
a black left eye. His one arm was dislocated from the elbow and was hanging loosely to his right. His whole body would would limp from his right to his left with his every step as he made his way towards me. And to complete the picture off with his crooked head, lacking patches of hair, gave him a perfect zombie look.
"Hey their Burtond, heading out this early eh?"
The moan was now replaced by a grumble as he walked right past me, giving me no attention what so ever.
"Aww you're too kind" I said with a wide bright smile on my face "you look handsome too by the way"
I turned my head to the rumbling sound on my left, to find another crippling figure quit similar to the one before.
"Oh Stracy, looking good as always I see" ," Richard morning , how's the little champ doing?"
They all started coming from all around me, one after the other "Marie Happy Birthday, I brought you a little present" I handed out an old plastic doll to the young zombie girl who gave out a moan "I found it at your balcony! You missed her right?" she groan as I put the little doll in her packet before she left.Sending me back to the days when we were still neighbors and she would always come to me and Cloe, complaining how her brother got her gain with his pranks.
I kept walking towards the broken bridge encountering them none the less, some I knew some I didn't but I greeted them anyway.
There I saw her at the edge of the bridge, her legs dangling above the river. My sister Cloe.
