Stepping up to the front door, she gently parted the curtains. A large shadow, almost as tall and wide as the entire door barred her way.
“Is Madame Steel here?” a deep yet gentle voice emanated from the silhouette of the man in the City Watch uniform before her.
“That depends on what your need is, soldier?” She replied with a smile.
“I was told... this Madame Steel... was a seer... an interpreter of dreams.”
“She could be.”
“May I see her?”
“You are seeing her.”
“Oh... I didn’t expect... Madam Steel to be so young... and... er... beautiful.”
“You are not disappointed, I pray.” She almost giggled at the reddening of his handsome face.
“What?” He jerked back. “No... I mean... I... I...”
“I am just teasing.” She laughed. “Do come inside and tell of your dreams.”
He nodded and stepped through the doorway and into the warm light of her parlour.
The man was young, perhaps a little too young for his impressive build and composure. The uniform of his profession fit him well and was in pristine condition. This was a man of discipline and class.
“Yes, tell me.” She looked into his brown uncertain eyes.
“I... have been having some strange dreams... since last night.” He chewed absently on his lower lip. “Only, I don’t think these are dreams... they are all the same... very crystal clear each time... and about the same person... someone I have never seen before in my life.”
“Have you ever had such dreams... or thoughts before... as a child?”
“No, never.” He exhaled deeply. “This is the first time ever... I don’t know what or why this is... am I going mad?”
“Let me touch your hand.” She held out her palm, facing upward.
