How do you even begin to tell a story as nonsensical as this one? Do you start with how the history of the entire country was rewritten? Or how a sudden pulse of something echoed from somewhere in Florida of all places and brought with it a change in the genetic makeup of mankind - thus giving way to extraordinary feats?
Maybe to explain it all this story should be written in an unreliable narrative style? That seems - to me, at least - to be the only way to tell you this story with all of it's eventful moments in twists that explain everything... Yes, that will work.
For now, let's just start on a small scale for now... A smaller scale focused right onto the small coastal town of Tausa. Where today, right now, at the early 9:27 AM, a certain individual was currently plummeting through the air while surrounded by debris and dust after a recent explosion sent him and they hurtling to the ground under the early and relentless heat of the sun.
Why he was falling? He wouldn't say that he was falling nor careening in any sense. It was perfectly controlled and calculated, the descent - and not just his, but the debris' too. He is - after all - the detonator of said explosion, so it is only reasonable he add those in to the equation in the first place.
And despite what it may seem, the bomb that was set in the first place was not done so with ill intentions. This must be clarified. In fact, it is with good intentions that such a thing was done at all! It was a reminder, an alarm of sorts that he had to leave to go somewhere much more important than fighting a second-rate hero. The importance of being on time was to be there for the return of the city's full-time hired hero - and his very best friend - Hotshot.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can already hear you asking "If the person is your hero friend, how could you use a bomb as an alarm?" And the answer to that is, while Hotshot works an average 20 hours a week preventing petty villains from taking over the 500,000 populace of Tausa, he... I... me- he unnamed individual in question! (Who will be named shortly) Is in fact, not only NOT a hero, but is in fact a regular opponent of Hotshot's. Not that the fiery-tempered hot-handed blond would ever know, let alone believe, the revelation that his very best friend is the renowned, atrociously dressed rascally pest of the streets.
The aptly and unironically named villain, Villain, who at this time descended the downward column of smoke and rock like a fired bullet. Not a twitch of fear marred his obscured smile as he dove to the sun heated asphalt below. His confidence was akin to a diver plunging to the unbroken surface of a deep and cool pool. And only once he was obscured by the billowing smoke from the few iron-gut observers who stayed to bear witness to his life-threatening swan dive did he use one of his precalculated chunks of broken concrete to disappear from sight to some hidden location.
Having used the momentary perch of his well-clad toes on the large man-made boulder to send him off down a small alley he had launched sideways from his drop to a hidden shaded alley where he shed his genius disguise and went to meet his heroic friend home, leaving the hero that he cared nothing for to clean the mess made that morning.
This was the story of Villain, of Hotshot, Nana and Origin. Of CrackJaw, Steno, Dharma and Legion. This was their story and boy was it a doozy.
