Lulu - Past
Radhi was losing all his hopes the further he and Lulu wandered away from their homeland. Helping his sister’s mental health was his top priority but there were never words good enough to ease her heavy conscience. The thought of not being able to predict the bloody war and the tragic death of her family and the other villagers, stormed her mind… She started to cradle herself to calm down before falling asleep; as time went by, this tormented feeling increased and Lulu started a humming to tranquilize herself while they walked. Everyday Radhi feared for her sanity.
In the temple placed among tall trees, Althea was praying when she sensed the siblings drawing nearer to her city. After opening her eyes, the priestess reached for the threshold of the door where she placed her hand feeling the cold stone. The white translucent curtains waved in the hot summer breeze and so did some of her grey hair that was loose from the long braid. Since the new moon, Goddess Hekate had been visiting her dreams to provide instructions: give shelter, give care and guide the new apprentice. Althea had already lost count of years since she had last taught a novice. Some of her pupils, now followers, still live there as others moved to other places to worship and to serve the Goddess of Magic. The woman was ecstatic with this arrival.
Radhi was confused when he and his sister were welcomed and invited to the temple. He was too tired to refuse the offer of a bed and food; at least, they would sleep under a ceiling that night and that was the only thing he cared for. His only request was to not be apart from Lulu, to which Althea nodded with a caring smile.
- First, you and your sister shall restore the body. Your way here is long and you are weak. Then, when strong enough, your mind and soul will be enlightened.
- But you know nothing about us. We could be robbers or even worse, assassins… How can you so blindly trust two strangers?
- It was Hekate who chose your sister as the new follower. My Goddess has a plan and she guided you here. I see your love and concern for Lulu. That’s enough for me.
