“You’ll fail Zarel.” A man wearing full black heavy armor, causing him to blend with the dark outer space, stated mockingly.
Zarel, a middle-aged man standing straight in front of the man wearing full black armor, wore a full white magician battle robe, his salt and pepper hair sways from the passing gust of wind, his wrinkles showed the passage of the years were slightly pale, yet his tired eyes still contained the calmness and a trace of ferociousness all high-class war mages have, were staring back at the man wearing full black armor.
“How long until the ASL activates?” He hurriedly asked without turning around
A few kilometers away, six mages of different races were standing in a circular formation with a capsule, that’s emitting a dim white light, at the center. ||Hold him for one more minute.|| One of them telepathically answered Zarel with a fatigued voice.
From the outside Zarel seemed emotionless and wasn’t affected at all but, inwardly, he was feeling a deep sense of despair, ‘Against this monster, a minute would feel like an eternity but if holding this monster back means that all we’ve worked so hard for, the countless lives sacrificed made just for a chance of redemption then so be it.’.
Zarel smirked “I won’t fail Kiro, I am one of the magicians that stand on top of the other races, The Paragons. If I fail so easily, we wouldn’t have been able to survive this long.” His voice was filled with confidence and didn’t shake at the slightest.
“HAHAHAHA” Kiro, the man wearing black armor, laughed maniacally. “Paragon, that mere title gives you this much confidence against me, Kiro, the apostle of the Void God Arathrous.” He said belittlingly.
Zarel didn’t say anything, he didn’t even move, instead, he closed his eyes and started chanting mentally. Mental incantation, one of the most advanced kinds of incantation, unlike chant-less incantation wherein the spell needs to be mastered in order to be casted instantly, mental incantation allows one to incant spells inwardly.

“Enough talk let’s see what you can do I’ll let you attack first and I won’t even move,” Kiro remarked with an easy-going tone, he didn’t take any stance nor casted any defensive spells, he was wide open. His cockiness irked Zarel greatly nevertheless he just continued chanting.

“What? too scared to move? I thought you were confident in the title of ‘Paragon’” he smiled mockingly, Zarel smiled back, which seemed to shock him.
Zarel's eyes shot open, at his iris was to a magic circle inscribed with runes and a complex runic symbol at the pupil, he immediately activated the spell “<MANA DEITY: sacrificial trade>!” the moment he activated the spell, he could feel the boundless mana in the entire universe rushing towards him, he felt like every pore in his body is overflowing with mana, an endless amount of spells rush into his mind, each and every spell that entered his mind has instantly been mastered any spell given to him can easily destroy an entire planet, but even with the boundless amount of mana and what seemed like all the spells ever created Zarel still had no confidence in being able to kill Kiro but at the very least he will be able to hold him back or greatly injure him.
Kiro showed an expression of shock, then a never-before look of seriousness. “You’re really looking to die.” he charges forward with unprecedented speed.
“<SPATIAL WARP>” Zarel disappearing in a silver light and appeared around thirty kilometers away, causing Kiro to hit nothing but the residual light. Thanks to <Mana deity: sacrificial trade> all the spells he learned and the ones that entered his mind a few moments ago were all mastered meaning I can cast it instantly.
||thirty more seconds || An urgent and hopeful voice sounded in Zarel’s head.
Thirty more seconds. I stared at Kiro who was staring back with the eyes of a ferocious beast seeing his meal escape, Zarel didn’t need to fight, he just needed to hold him back until the ASL activates, so attacking would be pointless.
“You honestly think I’ll play this game of cat and mouse with you?” Kiro sneered and faced where the other Paragons and ASL were. Zarel’s face darkened ‘That’s right killing me wasn’t his goal it was to stop the ASL’ cursing himself for making such a rookie mistake.
“
“Kuk” Kiro lightly grunted but didn’t seem all that hurt. <flame of the whirling sword seal> is a sealing spell that restricts the target from moving and casting spells below its level, it would’ve been the best sealing spell if it was casted on a regular person. Sensing this Kiro seemed to be angered by it “Fine! If you want to die with those bastards then so be it!” Kiro yelled furiously and gathered a terrifying amount of mana.
Zarel’s entire body started to tremble from fear, gritting his teeth, ‘from estimation, there should be around twenty-five seconds remaining. Fine, do or die.’ “<Mana deity’s destructive dominion>!” the surrounding mana started to vibrate fiercely, and a bright light enveloped my surroundings.
““DIEEEEEEE!”” Both Zarel and Kiro screamed. a beam of black light clashed with <Mana god’s destructive dominion>, despite being pushed back the beam of beam didn’t weaken at all.
“RAAAAARRGGGHH!!” Zarel screamed at the top of his lungs, expelling every ounce of mana in his body and the surroundings to protect those behind him. he could feel every inch of his body being shredded to pieces from the back clash of <Mana god’s destructive dominion> but he didn’t care, all he cared about was making sure the others weren’t harmed.
*BOOOOOMMMM*
A loud explosion resounded all over. *Cough* Zarel coughed up a mouth full of blood from the back clash, glancing around felt like his head would just fall off any moment. The smoke started to clear, his gaze was fixated on Kiro, who had his bloodied arms crossed and was furiously staring at him, “Bastard you dare to make me bleed!”
Without mana supporting Zarel, he started to fall to the ground like a meteor. Feeling his body slowly disintegrating, his mind was losing focus and his soul being shattered to a million pieces, nevertheless, a relieved smile was shown on his face, twenty-five second has passed which means the ASL has been activated he no longer have any regrets.
Zarel died with a smile on his face.
