She starred grumply at Ylanue.
“What’s up with that face?” The elf asked.
“Why didn’t you explain about the god of love pact thing?!”
“Well… I’m not blessed by the god of love nor a demigod from said god. It was better for you to have this conversation with your father.”
“Ugh.” She groaned while lying on the grass. “The god of love is a pervert. And I had the most embarrassing conversation in my life.” She heard Ylanue snort.
“Don't worry, you'll have worse ones." Ylanue said guffawing loudly. "Anyway, today we’re gonna start running a few laps around the region. It will help build your stamina.” Ylanue said.
She stood up. The elf started at a slow pace that kept raising. They spend the afternoon like that, running, resting for five minutes, and then repeating.
“How did you meet my father?” She asked in one of the breaks.
“Hm?” The elf turned her neck to have a better view of her. “He helped me once, when I was younger.”
“Can you elaborate?” She asked while absently running her finger through the grass.
“Hm…” The elf pondered. “Demigods have a longer lifespan, they can live up to centuries.” The white explained, and she stopped her motion. “I met your father when I was around 679.”
“Wait, wait, wait. Aren’t you 900?” She asked, stopping abruptly.
“Uh? Didn’t your father explain?” The elf asked, Eirlys could hear the nervouness of the elf. She probably said something she shouldn't.
“I mean, he did say we had longer lifespans, but didn’t say how much longer, I thought it was like 150 years, maybe 200 years…” Eirlys said.
"I don't know if I can go around talking to you about this." She said nervously.
"We could trade the information." She said and Ylanue laughed.
"And what would you offer me?" The elf said with a cocky smile on her face.
"Dessert." Ylanue's smile disappeared. "For a whole month." And after that it didn't take long to Ylanue start to babble.
“Hm… If I’m not mistaken demigods can live up to 500 to 650 years.”
“And if he helped you back then, it means he was already old.”
"Perhaps, but not so much, I believe.” The elf looked up, thinking. “Maybe he was around thirty during that time? I don’t know. Your father was always able to deceive others with his looks.” Ylanue put her arms at her waist. “He has barely aged a day since I met him.”
“Really?”
“Yes! He must have broken quite a few hearts with his looks alone.” Ylanue laughed. “I can imagine the ladies from the capital swooning all over him.”
Eirlys made a disgusted face.
“Now that you explained to me about how long I can live, and what my next discussion with my father will be, please answer my first question. How did you meet my father?”
“Hm. Very well.” The woman stretched. “It was a dark time. A time of war, and with war many horrendous things came to being.” The elf said with a dark expression.
“One day, I was fighting a exorvus-”
“What’s a exorvus?” She interrupted.
“It’s a human or elf turned into a demon by the energy of a deceased high demon.” Ylanue answered quickly and proceeded to continue her story. “I was cornered into a tree, and the damn thing was coming to slice my head off my shoulders.”
The elf made a motion with her hand.
“Then I saw white, and the exorvus laid dead in front of me, his head near my foot and black blood spilling from the neck.” The girl made a face to the description. “Amias was in front of me then, extending his hand. His hair looked like a red flag and his face was devoid of any emotion.”
She really couldn’t think of her father as devoid of emotion. If anything, it was the contrary. Amias was always wearing an easy smile.
“It may be hard to think of your father in that way.” The older woman smiled. “He changed a lot, and seems happier than I have ever seen him.”
Eirlys nodded, but now she had even more questions.
She wanted to know more about her father's life. And more about herself.
