Elias groans, glaring at both Aria and Lydell, who are in the training area. Aria seems to be teaching her new found friend some combat moves and they are now getting along splendidly!
He also knows that they are hiding something because they seem to be planning something. They even get quiet when either Evritt or he come around. But Evritt’s a child so he isn’t really keen on this behaviour yet. He has to get to the bottom of this.
“So, this is more of a method to increase your focus?” Lydell’s voice pulls him out of his own scheming and he glances at them to see them both sitting in the pose Aria sits in when she is alone. He always assumed she was just thinking but he was definitely wrong.
Nodding, Aria lifts her chin,” Yes, it does more than that, but because you have no abilities that could benefit, it helps with focus and strengthening your mind. Especially with everything going the way it is going,” Aria explains, adjusting herself in her seat. She then rests her hands on her thighs with the palms facing upward. “Now, keep your eyes closed and breathe,” she instructs, before taking a deep breath herself.
Elias watches as Lydell follows suit and then sighs quietly. He doesn’t want to interrupt them, but he wants to get to the bottom of this. So, he joins and sits next to Lydell, who ignores him as she breathes. He mimics their positions and then peeks at Aria, who seems to be glowing. Specifically, the marks that adorn her face. His eyes widen and he gapes. He has seen her do this before, but he has never witnessed her transition into a state of deep consciousness. It's amazing. Her eyes open, glowing brightly.
“Hey y'all, what’s happening?” a voice loudly asks, breaking all the concentration in the room. Aria slams her eyes shut, squeezing, before opening them, to reveal annoyed silver orbs. Lydell gasps, startled out of her position and they all turn to face Kial, who is walking with Evritt. Interest coats their expressions as they observe the scene in front of them.
Lydell turns to glare at them,” We were training, before you two busted in all loud and disruptive.” Kial only shrugs, not a care in sight.
Aria rolls her eyes, standing up in her spot. She ignores Kial and asks,” And what did you want, Elias?” Elias blinks, surprised at being called out.
He grunts,” I want to know what’s up with you two. You have been sneaking around and acting all buddy buddy with them. I want to know why.”
Aria stiffens, but it’s unnoticeable. She glances at Lydell, then at Kial. Who both nod, knowing this will happen. The man is too smart for his own good and it’s annoying sometimes. But they have to be careful. Because if Cambrell finds out what they’re up to. They're all doomed.
Evritt tilts his head to side, confused. He tries to analyze the situation in front of him, taking in the awkward faces and the determined gaze Elias wears as he waits impatiently on an answer. Then an idea pops in his head. An amazing idea. He grins, clapping his hands together to get their attention.
Of course, he brother only shoots him an annoyed glance and ignores him to continue speaking,” Do you not trust us anymore, Aria? You were the main one who didn’t want anything to do with them so what changed?”
Evritt clears his throat, clapping again, but this time Lydell waves him off,” Wait a minute, we will take you to the other children in a minute.”
That causes Evritt’s hairs to bristle. He puffs his cheeks out, annoyed and makes his way over to Aria. What if we link them? He asks. Aria pauses, a bit surprised to hear Evritt’s voice but then she thinks on his idea. It’s a very good one! “Oh, you are a genius!” she huffs, causing the others to look confused at her outburst.
“What do you mean, Evritt is a genius?” Elias asks, confused. He glances at Evritt, who has a proud grin on his face as he listens to Aria’s words of praise.
Aria rolls her eyes annoyed,” I mean that Evritt has a great idea.” She nods at Evritt and he puffs his chest up, strutting over to Lydell and Kial. Who both become unnerved at the expression on his face. As he moves closer, they take a step back.
“Uh, Aria. He's looking creepy,” Lydell worries, furrowing her brows together. Kial makes a face, creeped out. They were so nervous that when Evritt taps his palm against Kial’s forehead, they both jump. The feel of the cold hand is almost shocking from a child to them. He also lays his other hand on Lydell’s forehead.
Suddenly, Lydell hears a voice come through, Hello! Can you hear me? She gasps, glancing down at Evritt. Who has a wide grin on his face. She then looks over at Kial, who is snickering with a glint in his eyes. Excitement flashes through his eyes. “Oh, we can do a lot with this,” he says.
Elias looks over and then suddenly, understanding fills his eyes. Then a plan forms in his head. A great plan. One that is sure to work. You guys... I have an idea...

Kial huffs, impatiently. This was a bad idea. It's too risky! He peeks inside the room again to see Elias focused on the screens. His eyes flit across the screen as fast as his fingers move across the keys. Jitters crawl up Kial’s back at the sight. It looks uninteresting but the screens move with such precision and files move across the screen.
Are you done yet? he asks. Only to be shushed by Elias as he moves his fingers across the keys.
Elias quietly sighs, This is a lot of work, Kial. I have about a minute before the alarm will sound and I'll be locked out. So please, let me work. His working speed increases and he glances over at his own screen. Kial is really bothering him with the hovering. He just hangs around, looking over his shoulder. Surveying his every move. The man doesn’t even know anything about technology. He's kind of dumb!
He scrambles the signal of the screen and then locks it against other outside devices. Then, standing, he grabs his own screen right as he hears Lydell’s voice pierce through, There are guards coming your way!
Kial moves to the door, Elias let’s go. Fiddle with your screens later. He glares at Elias who is still taking his time putting everything back together. This is the longest minute that Kial has felt in his life. With each ticking second in his head, he feels a cold sweat form, waiting in anxiety. They are going to get caught. This is the end.
Huffing, Elias moves past Kial and peeks through the crack in the door. Seeing nobody, he ventures further and checks the hallway, even inching his head out of the room.
We’re clear, Lydell is at the end of the hall, Kial sighs, relieved as he hears Elias’s voice assure him. His fear and worry dissipate and quite honestly, he is very impressed.
He glances at the young boy who is puffing his chest in pride. Is this boy not an ajin?
Elias puffs his chest as they meet up with Lydell, who is waiting, almost anxiously. She is even pacing up and down, appearing to be patrolling, when in fact she was internally panicking.
He grins, looking at Lydell. Excitement flashes through his brown eyes and he moves past her to make his way down the hall. Lydell glances at Kial, who is as confused as she is.

“So, we got the files. And I scrambled it so if anyone goes in there and tries to trace my screen, it’ll mess up their system for a while,” Elias boasts. Evritt snickers, remembering how he would watch Elias practice that trick every day.
Aria nods, raising an eyebrow at the giddy expression he wears. “Right, so what is this big plan of yours now?” She can tell that Elias is obviously proud of himself but can’t share the same sentiment at the moment. She is mostly worried and anxious about having to now protect four people, when she was struggling to watch after just two. Heck, she can’t even protect herself!
Elias huffs, pulling out his screen and on cue, everyone crowds around him, trying to get a clear look. “So, first of all, our primary goal is information and finding our parents.” He taps a button and moves a file to the main screen. “I had gone through their system to find information on the Priem couple, because they were scientists focusing on the machinery behind the ajins’ collar chips. They were researching how to rewire the chips and offer a less harmful method of training. At least, that’s what Mama and Pa told us," He huffs before continuing,” However, they’ve been taken under custody for suspicion of aiding the Martyrdom. And the closest jail that they have been taken to is the Citadel.” He shoots a glance at Aria, who doesn’t make move in reaction to this, but something flashes in her eyes.
“Our goal is to rescue them and then find this file. It's important for both us, and your dad, Lydell. It’s not a digital file, so I would have to retrieve the actual copy and scan it to my screen somehow,” he explains, sucking in a breath. “Now, the main issue would be getting out of the compound undetected. On my rounds of securing their network, I looked at the camera feed and the rotation of the guards.
“It’s going to be difficult, especially since he seems to be adding more people to his roster recently. But, I think I figured out the pattern and I am confident that we can pull this off... somehow. Lydell would have to be the distraction, along with Evritt, especially because Lydell has the most authority here. I’m sure Kial knows someone who can teleport us to the Citadel and he is kind of crucial in a mission that is mainly stealth. Aria is the muscle and can also pick up the presence of the bad guys. What do you think?”
As Elias finishes his speech, he glances up at the others, who are all gaping at him. He shrinks back a little, confused at the looks in their eyes. “What?” he asks. They look a bit enamored by him and it’s creeping him out.
“Are you sure you’re not an ajin?” Kial asks after a weighted silence.
Raising an eyebrow, Elias shakes his head,” No. I don’t have the ring around my irises like other ajin. You should know that, already.” He then looks over at Aria,” I know you probably don’t want to go back there, but this is important. Will you be okay?”
Aria nibbles her lower lip, worried. Her heart started racing at the thought of having to go back to the Citadel and run into that man. She was hoping that to limit the number of encounters to two, but apparently, she has to be prepared for the worst.
She gulps,” Of course. Let’s do this.”
