The tower before me stands infinitely, or that was what Angelus says. The Library of Babel is a library that holds all the information in this universe and the next. Apparently, this library was a gift to True Chaos (that’s how Alexandria refers to the original Chaos) by his younger brother, Knowledge.
To be honest, I was turning out Alexandria during the walk here. Not because I didn’t care, but because I’m excited that I am going to be learning magic!
The reason we’re in the Chaos Dimension to begin with is so that I can learn magic at my pace. Since I never was a violent person when I was a human, Angelus thought me learning magic would benefit me serving him.
“This is where we part ways for now.” Angelus said. “The one who will teach you is inside of the library.”
“Where are you guys going?”
“We’re going on an adventure!” Artemisia said eagerly.
I wish I could be perpetually happy as Artemisia. Maybe it’s because she is just so far away from humanity that nothing ever bothers her. I am actually envious of her in that regard. To be honest, I envy Artemisia for a lot of things. Like her perfect toned body, teeth, eyes.
“Alright, let’s get out of here.” Alexandria said randomly. Is she reading my thoughts?
“Agreed.” Angelus said. Before I had time to register what he said, all three of them vanished before my eyes. Leaving me alone in this world of complete nonsense.
As if reacting to my thoughts, the Chaos Dimension began raining upwards. Despite that, I was dry to the bone. In fact, I felt dehydrated, Like I was walking in a desert. I ran towards the door but found it shut tight.
I pushed really hard on it and the door came flying off of its hinges. It darted to the other side of the library, smashing the wall and kept flying. Looking in, I can see a bunch of denizens writhing in pain on the floor.
“Whoops.” I guess I don’t understand my strength.
From inside the library, I can hear a whiny male voice screeching at me.
“What have you done?!” A man made from pure energy came running towards me, his hands on his head and his face. He was in panic mode.
“I’m sorry, it was an accident! I just wanted to open the door. “I said with my hands out in front of me. As if I was defending myself from an attacker.”
Seeing how stressed out I was by this ordeal, the man made from energy calmed down and let out a sigh.
“It’s not your fault. Stuff like that happens all the time here.”
Despite being made from half light and half dark, I can still make out some features. Like shoulder length red and blue shaggy hair, silver and gold eyes and colorful gems decorated throughout his body. He has no clothes, but he doesn’t have any gender sexual organs, which I am thankful for.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you around before?”
“My name is Norah. Norah Zevenbergen.”
“I see. So you’re Master Angelus’s new servant. My name is Astral and I’m the librarian.”
“Nice to meet you.” I extended my hand, and he took it. His hand is warm, like a lightbulb and it doesn’t feel like flesh at all.
“Again, sorry about the door.”
“Don’t worry about it. Living in the Chaos Dimension, you just have to live with things like this. Compared to organizing the content of this library alphabetically, this damage is nothing.”
“Oh really? How long did that take you?”
“Three billion years and three days of your Earth years.”
“Oh.” Now I really feel bad.
“So, what brings you here Norah? Interested in learning about the ways of the universe?”
“Maybe some other time, Astral. I’m here to learn magic.”
Astral’s face distorts in pure terror.
Was it something that I said? I don’t really get his reaction, but I didn’t have time to ask him about it.
Something that looked like a staff of some sort bops Astral on the head.
I turned my head and saw a woman standing there holding a large staff. She had pale skin, long auburn hair, silver eyes, and pale skin. She was wearing clothes that looked like she came from a steam-punk convention.
I realized she was an Ancient almost immediately.
“Hello Norah. It is I, Intelligentsia of the Endless, Avatar of Chaos!”
