Their father paced back and forth, mumbling and muttering about something that had crossed his mind. It had appeared he was confused or distraught about something. Had something happened to one of his loved ones or did something stupid occur in the kingdom? Fritz and Clara approached their father as they stood before him in the throne room.
"Yes, father?" Fritz sighed.
Their father snapped his neck towards his children like an owl as he erupted like a volcano. Clara had never heard him snap so loudly as he screamed, "FRITZ! CLARA! WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING OF SETTING OFF FIREWORKS IN THE UNCLE ELIAS'S ROOM!?"
Clara and Fritz stood up as Clara looked like she was about to cry. Her father's voice scared her harshly. Fritz saw the fear in Clara's eyes so he decided to lie, "Father, it wasn't us! It was one of the soldiers!"
"That's rather curious-" their father said, approaching Fritz. He squinted his eyes as he said, "-because I don't recall any soldiers buying fireworks." He then looked at Clara, seeing the little innocence in her little eyes. He sighed as he hugged Clara. She hides her face in her father's suit as tears engulf her. He then looked back at Fritz, as it looked like he knew Fritz wasn't telling the truth.
"Dad! I'm being serious! I'm telling you the truth!"
"Really? You don't look like you're being honest to me, Fritz Phillip Stahlbaum."
"Dad!" Fritz exclaimed. Before his father could respond, there was a giant thud in the window. This quickly got his attention as he stopped arguing with Fritz and let go of Clara. He stood on his feet and ran outside. The sound of the thud had startled him to pieces. There wasn't any other option as Clara & Fritz followed him outside into the castle courtyard, curious about what had hit on the window glass.
The castle courtyard looked like something you see in an English garden landscape, but surprisingly it popped out like a comic book; roses in different colors and even the flowers all around the garden had different types of style of petals and leaves; some were looking like hearts and others looking like teardrops.
When they arrived, they saw their mother in the bushes, carefully taking out something that was in the rose bush. They heard cooing as she took out a bird from the bushes. Not just any bird though; it was a falcon. Its wing looked bent or it was impaled by how many thorns were even in the bush. It was indeed Clara's first time seeing a falcon with its feathers all poofed up, but she was worried. She saw how much pain it was in, but Fritz pulled her back when she was about to touch it.
"I heard if you try to aggravate a falcon, it will stab the hell out of your eyeballs." Fritz mocked her. This phrase scared Clara indefinitely; she stepped back from the falcon, but thank heavens her father heard this.
"Fritz, that wasn't nice!" he snapped. Clara hid behind her father in fear as he comforted her. "Alice," he spoke, "how about we take the bird inside so it can get the proper care that it needs?" Alice looked at her husband and nodded, "Of course, Albert. That is indeed a wise idea." Alice and Albert walked inside as the children followed. Fritz and Clara were indeed curious about this newfound animal and how it got into the village. There weren't any falcons in the village so this was the first one they ever saw.
Alice placed the falcon gently on Clara's bed as it cooed in pain. Alice pets it gently as she carefully took one thorn out of the wing. Louise also helped her mother as she threw the thorns away in a small trashcan. Little Clara watched while Fritz became bored and went off to go see what Albert was doing. Alice luckily removed all of the thorns from the falcon's wing and bandaged it up perfectly. She gave the falcon a small plushy fort as it hid inside there. Clara looked at the falcon in the plush fort as Alice reminded her, "Remember, Little Clara. Animals need their space."
"Of course, mommy!" Little Clara smiled as she stared at the falcon. Louise then remembered something shocking, "Oh shit, mother! The party!"
"Oh, that's right! Clara, stay here!" Alice exclaimed. When watching her mother run out with Louise, she could hear her say, "Why the fuck... why the fuck did I forget that today was the party?!"
The falcon stared back at Clara as it cooed. It wanted to be petted on the head. Clara approached the falcon as she pet it gently; it cooed happily as it puffed up its feathers. She giggled as she accompanied the falcon for a while, but then she heard Louise enter the room as she spoke, "Clara, quickly! Get ready! The guests will soon be here!"
"Yes, Louise..." Clara sighed. She looked back at the falcon as it nuzzled her cheek. Clara giggled as she said softly, "Alright, I'll be sure to grab you a couple of snacks."
