Great news right?
Got my soul shattered - on the constant verge of dying because of that,
and If I do die I'm going to be condemned to that hellscape.
And using this knowledge bomb that was dropped on me - Graham broke the silence.
“Alright, no use moping around - we need to start training you now before the sun gets up,
the faster you get a grip on controlling the darkness, the faster you'll be able to go and kick that god's ass!”
I could hear the sound of knuckles cracking.
“And don’t forget about all those other souls too,
even if it will take months to condense all of them to use in forging -
it would be preferable to save as many of them as possible!”
shouted the elder, while seemingly getting further away.
“Don’t worry elder, he is either going to learn or die trying”
I could feel the smile on Graham's face.
“Master Graham, it would benefit all of us if you could NOT break most of his bones on your first lesson,
this world is too primitive to deal with those kind of injuries quickly”
Said the woman, whose voice was also trailing away.
With a light groan, Graham shouted.
“FINE, we'll start with something easier, but don’t expect quick progress then!”
There was no answer.
I could hear him mumbling something to himself, but to me - it was all nonsense.
He was probably cursing them off for leaving him alone with me.
“Alright then fresh meat, get your ass up and get listening.
You are going to get a crash course at sensing and channeling your will into shadows”
After those words, some of the shadows in the room moved before my bed and the orc construct appeared again.
“As you have seen right now I’ve taken control of shadows around me and created this shell so this teaching process will be easier for me.
We won’t be doing anything this complicated for now, so just forget about it.
What we WILL be doing now is teaching you to take control of at least one shadow”
The construct then pointed his index finger at the vase that was standing on the table opposite my bed.
“Now, I want you to look at that vase, close your eyes, and focus on what I’m about to say, got it?”
Not wanting to invoke his wrath I quickly nodded and closed my eyes.
“So… what exactly should I be seeing now?”
“For now, you take your cheeky attitude and shove it deep down before I reconsider my promise to Lady Hòlrak.
After that - you try and keep up, I don't like repeating myself.
With all that said - let's get started, right now you shouldn't see anything, make sense right? Now, try to focus and create an image of that vase in your mind”
Following his advice, I did just that.
“Following me so far? Good, now if you did it right you should be seeing an aura radiating from the thing - that is our goal for today, you are gonna try to detach that aura from it. When you are done with that you should move it onto your right hand”
Easier said than done, for the next two hours and a half I spent trying to even grasp it, and when I succeeded with that I spent three more hours trying to detach the aura from the vase.
It stretched and did all kinds of weird things while I was handling it, but I could never detach it.
And while I was doing that I could hear the vase dancing on the table and slight chuckles coming from my “teacher”.
“Good, good, that's enough entertainment for me - let's teach you properly now”
After hearing him say that I snapped and opened my eyes.
“What do you mean entertainment!?”
“The task that I gave you is impossible to begin with, but don’t look at me like that,
it was still training - focus on the vase again, but don’t close your eyes now”
Even with my trust in him lost, I still proceeded to do what he said.
“Now, try and manipulate the aura, forget about detaching it”
When I Imagined the aura of the vase and tried moving it above the vase,
the shadow it was casting condensed into a crude orb and moved above it too.
“Congratulations, you learned void sight and low shadow manipulation!"
he was a proper bastard sure, but at least his method worked.
