Molecules containing immense energy surrounded the eager individual sitting on his bed. Han was covered in energy he had obtained from continuously training his 0 Rank Spells. The boy inhaled the energy and once in a while got up from his position to try to make the Vase next to him float. At last, that spell remained to be unsuccessful, it still meant that Han hasn’t fully controlled the rapid mana coursing through his veins.
Knock Knock Knock
The sound shattered the intense training Han was delving into. He sighed and looked towards the door shaking his head in disappointment though he wondered what had happened since there were no appointments booked for the day. Lately, there had been fewer patients coming to the clinic. Well, he can’t expect people to get injured or sick too often. He ruffled his hair as he didn’t have the energy to think of these things. “Come in”, he voiced.
The door creaked open, and Blade hesitantly entered the room. “What happened? Is there someone here for me?”, Han asked yawning seeing him in such a rush.
“Yes, Master. Sir, Rasial has requested an audience from you. He said it was something of importance”, informed Blade.
Han pursued his lips in thought wondering what Rasial would come here for. Usually, he wasn’t fond of meeting with people or associating with them except when he had to treat patients. Thinking of Rasial, he did leave on a good note with him, and he seemed like a good man. “I’ll be down in a few minutes. Take him to my office In the Ward”.
“As you say”, said Blade nodding as he walked outside closing the door behind him.
Han got up from his bed and stretched. While doing so his forehead instantly wrinkled smelling a foul odor but then he realized it was coming from his body. He chuckled awkwardly scratching his head and walked toward the bathroom to clean up. It seemed like training had made him sweat quite a bit. He liked it since he knew the skills were improving and making an effect on his body.
After 30 Minutes, in the Ward's Office. There sat 2 individuals facing each other. As Han and Rasial greeted each other Blade brought the refreshments to the table.
“What has brought you here?”, asked Han getting straight to the point. He picked up the herbal tea and sipped It as he awaited his answer.
Rasial awkwardly smiled upon hearing the Physician’s question. “Don’t worry I’ll tell you but before I have to congratulate you for your accomplishments so far”.
Han cluelessly looked at Rasial, he didn’t know what accomplishment Rasial was trying to congratulate him for.
Seeing the cluelessness on Han’s face Rasial was flabbergasted honestly, he couldn’t believe someone could be this dense. Did he just treat the illness like any other illness, did it take no effort whatsoever? Thunderstruck in his mind shocking him at the thought. “You know the Tetanus patient you recently treated”, he uttered with a forced smile.
“Oh, that patient I did treat him of the Tetanus, but he died of not having his torn arm getting treated. Quiet upsetting… not being able to treat the patient fully”, said Han with a painful expression. He didn’t want to think of him but at the moment the image of the dead body on the operating table flashed in his mind.
Utter silence resounded in the office. Rasial closed his eyes as he prayed for the peace of the dead. Although he couldn’t believe that the physician would take such a risky patient which was halfway on his deathbed. Having a torn limb meant there was no cure, there had been no cure so far on this matter from the Alchemists so then why were the Physicians accepting such patients? “I advise in the future to not treat such patients. Why give hope when it’s an impossible case”, he said realizing the current situation.
Putting the teacup on the table, Han glared at Rasial and voiced, “I will do whatever is in my knowledge to try to treat the patient even if there’s a small chance of treatment, I will still proceed with it. That is why I became a Physician. To not discriminate with who and what I’m treating…at the end what matters is that I do what I can for the patient”.
Hearing the Physician’s reply ashamed Rasial. This was the first time he had seen such a mature and reasonable 15-year-old. He seemed as if he had experienced a lot of deaths and having a death in his Clinic didn’t hinder him at all. He truly believed that he was making the right choice in coming to the Clinic to discuss that topic with the Physician today.
Rasial beamed a smile, “Anyway, I congratulate you for playing a part in the Continent’s prosperity. The King will be shocked to hear this news”.
swwwoooooffffhhhhh!
Han spit out his tea instantly hearing the term ‘King’ from the Alchemist’s mouth. Why would he meet royalty in the first place and how?
Seeing the shocked look on the Physician’s face, Rasial got straight to the topic. “This was the reason I came to meet you”, he placed the note in front of Han gesturing for him to read it.
Han picked up the note and after reading the content he said confused, “How is this related to me?”.
“This was the invitation to the Princess’s Debutante Ball. I would like to invite you; you were the first person I thought of bringing along with me to this occasion. Plus, since we are neighbors now, I think it’s nice to have a friendly relationship”, said Rasial enthusiastically.
Han was going to blurt out a straight ‘No’ to the invitation, but he stopped considering the pros and cons. “What do you mean by Neighbors”, he chided surprised at the Alchemist’s statement.
“Oh, about that, I recently created a workshop in Siron City. I will come to visit often”, said Rasial smiling.
Han nodded wondering how much money this Alchemist had. When the last time he visited the clinic, he said he was doing decorations for his previous Workshop. He sighed letting go of the thought since it was worthless and thinking of the matter at hand.
“You will get to meet a lot of new people, you will get to see the Royal family and also make new connections while you’re there”, informed Rasial noticing the conflicted expression of the Physician.
‘It’s not like I’m doing anything in the Clinic. I’m not proud to say this but I think Citizens are starting to avoid the Clinic but after hearing the new rumors spreading about the place there shouldn’t be any damage done. I do want to see the people ruling the Continent…’, thought Han crossing his arms in reluctance.
After a few seconds, he came to a decision. “The Invitation is pretty enticing”, Han said smiling “…I’ve decided to go”. Rasial sighed a sigh of relief hearing the Physician’s decision, he couldn’t bear the tension since he wanted the Physician to go with him.
“I will make sure you won’t regret it”, replied Rasial.
“Let me ask you this…why me?”, asked Han.
“…I would like to show off my genius physician friend. Plus, I want you to meet some of the nobles since I feel like you are quite the homebody”, explained Rasial avoiding eye contact.
“It’s ok I do admit I try to avoid people, but I accepted the invitation since you’re the one inviting me. I’ve seen you are a kind man and not accepting your invitation will make me feel guilty”, Han remarked.
Both of them chuckled at each other’s reasons. ‘He finally seems like a kid and a bright one at that’, thought Rasial seeing the smile on the 15-year-old Physician.
