This book is about Rue K. Kaleb who is a part of the, for short the Rue Family. Kaleb is the firstborn of the Rue Family's present leader. His father is Rue K. Kai, the son of Rue K. Ki who was the leader of the Rue Family.

The Rue Family is one of five Families in The Nation of Fia. The Rue's are the head of the Families and are in charge of all. The Families are The Rue Family of New York, the Alexy Family of Detroit, the Conroy Family of Boston, the Blackwell Family of Chicago, and the Alice Family of Baltimore. Each family has its own territory in The Nation of Fia.

Each Family has leaders and representatives that meet and gather each year to have their annual meeting to discuss their criminal movement and if there are any problems with each other's organization. The Rue K. Family of New York manages and rules over all Families. The Alexy Family of Detroit are the helpers and provides assistance for all the Families. They do a little of everything. The Conroy Family of Boston educates and trains members and Families. They protect the Families. The Blackwell Family of Chicago are the doctors and handle torturing for the Family. The Alice Family of Baltimore are the scientists and handle technology for the Families. 

Kaleb's mother died when he was born. As her death was going on. Kaleb's grandfather, Rue K. Ki was murdered, during the yearly meeting. A war almost broke out, but Kaleb's father Kai stepped up and took care and over of the Family. Kaleb was raised by his father's brother, Rue K. Tae. Kaleb's father remarried three different women. He has three stepmothers and four step-brothers. He wants to leave the Family ways, but his father has other plans for him.

Kaleb has an arranged marriage with Bella Than. Kaleb's father steps down and Bella dies. He has to give up his dreams to protect his loved ones. Kaleb steps up and changes the Family's way of life, his heart grows colder and lonelier. His closest friends want him to find love and be happy as he once was.

Kaleb was headed to a business meeting when he saw a girl helping out an old lady move her cart full of flowers onto the sidewalk. Kaleb told the driver to stop the car to get a better look at the girl. His friends were wondering what he was doing. Kaleb told them that the girl looked kind of like Bella. The guys laughed and said Bella was a beautiful and kind girl. And other than the girl being kind, they didn't have anything else in common. 

Can this mystery girl open Kaleb's heart up? Will she prove to be something different? Will Kaleb be what she needs? Let's see.
