Letter #430724
Brantford, Canada, July 24, 1943
Dearest Peach-Pie; How are you my precious darling? Don’t worry about me as I am fine. I am writing this just before the Post Office closes. Will write more fully next time.
We arrived at Brantford all right. We were up at 5 AM and on the train at 7:30 AM. We arrived in Brantford about 10:30 and were met by a bagpipe band and marched through the town and out to the camp. It is about two miles and you sure notice it carrying a full pack!
We didn’t do anything all afternoon except march around and pick up our blankets and other equipment. We finished off with a lecture from the O.G. who is a young chap about 33 years old. He seems O.K. but he’s very strict about being late and A.W.O.L..
We are confined to barracks tonight and must remain in camp this weekend. This will give me a chance to catch up on my washing, etc. I sure will miss my precious girl-girl this weekend but have hopes for a long weekend next week. Well, I have to catch the mail so I will close with all my love to the sweetest girl in the world.
Your loving boy-boy.
P. S. Don’t worry about me as everything is fine and I am with a swell bunch of fellows, millions of X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X Xs
Your darling.
