Letter #430827
Brantford, Canada, August 27, 1943.
Dearest Peach Pie;
I guess you are wondering what has happened? Everything is O.K. I just haven’t had time. Tuesday was our long day and Wednesday we had a twelve mile route march. It was pretty hot up here and we were pretty well exhausted at the end. It was a late night but I don’t think more than three or four of the boys had the strength to walk downtown. It turned quite cool overnight, and was rather chilly here all day. I have a couple of blisters on my feet, so I had to limp most of the day. I’ve had them treated and they will be O.K. by tomorrow. In fact, everything will be fine by tomorrow night. I am coming by train and will be home about 8:30 PM. I will see you at 311 as I don’t want you rushing home right after you have had your dinner.
I did not receive a letter from you today. I hope you are not angry at me. I know you are not, but I have come to expect them and it seems strange not to hear my name called out for mail. But I guess you were waiting for me to write. Well, we won’t need any letters for the next few days. What a wonderful two days they will be. The whole night with my girl-girl. Well darling, I can’t think of anything more to write as I am too excited thinking about the weekend, so until tomorrow night at 8:30 PM. Good night precious.
Your Boy
P.S. In a rush I forgot to mention the fact that I received the money O.K. and have my ticket already bought. So good night again sweetheart.

Reflection: Always take care of your feet! Sweaty stinky socks, ill fitting shoes, etc., cause blisters, infections, itchy rash, etc might lead to you limping around. Take care of your feet. Always wash your feet and slap some fresh socks on every day. Honor your feet for the places they took you and the places you will go!
Spoiler alert; pack an extra pair of socks on those long days to keep those puppies fresh!
