Han Chen descends the stairs after taking a shower and heads toward the kitchen. Yan Liu hears footsteps approaching and calls out, "I just finished the instant noodles; I'll bring them to the table in a minute."
Han Chen stops and sits at the table to wait for dinner.
Yan Liu hurries over with a pot of noodles and places it on the table. Han Chen pauses, glances inside the pot, and compliments, "Hmm, this looks pretty good." He then looks at her and laughs, "But I think you made way too much."
Yan Liu bursts into laughter, tucks her hair behind her ear, feeling a bit embarrassed, and says, "I got hungry, so I’ll eat with you."
Han Chen nods in agreement, getting up to grab some utensils. Soon, they’re eating together. To anyone watching, they might just seem like two people sharing a meal, but they move in perfect harmony, like they've done this a hundred times.
After dinner, Han Chen goes upstairs, walking in the same direction as Yan Liu. She finds it a bit strange.
Suddenly, they both stop in front of the same room. Sensing the awkwardness, Han Chen breaks the silence, "So, as per the contract, we'll be sharing the same room to avoid suspicion. But I want to ask again—are you okay with that?"
Yan Liu blushes but nods. Han Chen nods back and steps into the room, turning off the light before lying down on one side of the bed.
Meanwhile, Yan Liu stands frozen, not sure what to do, observing him quietly. When she sees Han Chen already settled in bed, she realizes she's just standing there like a fool.
Snapping out of it, she finally climbs into bed, mentally reassuring herself, "The bed is big enough; we won't even touch."
She lies down and whispers, "Goodnight." She’s not expecting a reply, but just as she’s drifting off, she hears him quietly say, "Goodnight."
At that moment, neither of them knows that the person lying next to them will soon become both the miracle and the most confusing part of their lives.
Early in the morning, Yan Liu is still in a deep sleep when she hears a noise. She slowly opens her eyes and sees Han Chen stepping out of the bathroom. Rubbing her eyes, she groggily asks, "Is it morning already?"
Han Chen glances over at her and replies, "It’s still early, but I have to head to work."
Yan Liu nods and settles back down. Just before drifting back to sleep, she hears Han Chen chuckle and say, "I’ll leave your new credit card with the butler. Just ask him for it when you wake up."
Barely awake, she mumbles something in response, and Han Chen laughs at her sleepy reaction before grabbing his keys and heading out.
As he descends the stairs, Han Chen spots Butler Ling and greets him, "Good morning, Ling. You didn’t have to wake up so early."
Butler Ling smiles, "It’s a habit. After all, I’ve been with you since you were little."
Feeling a bit nostalgic, Butler Ling asks, "Will you have breakfast today?"
Han Chen sighs, "Not today. I’ve got some issues to handle at the company. Please take Han Wei to school for me. I’ll try to come back early tonight."
Just as Han Chen reaches the door, a face flashes in his mind. He stops, pulls something out of his pocket, and turns back to Butler Ling, handing him a small item. "This is for my wife. Give it to her when she wakes up."
Butler Ling is momentarily surprised but accepts it, watching as his boss heads out the door. He sighs to himself, thinking, "It seems Madame has changed a lot. Could their marriage change too? After everything he went through with his last marriage, the young master deserves some happiness."
Walking back inside, Butler Ling remains deep in thought, determined to do whatever he can to help the family move forward.
