I look down from the heavens above, years later after my death. I look at people telling stories of my legacy and my life. They see me as a monster who curses people for fun. They mock me, and laugh at me, when I did nothing wrong. They praised the people who ruined my life, killed my family, and rewrote me to be viewed as the villain. My heart aches whenever I hear of these tales, for none of this is my fault. I am Medusa, and this is my story.

I was born to Phorsys and Ceto and was immediately praised for my beauty. I had two sisters, and we bonded closely. The first one I met was Eurayle, my older sister. The second she laid eyes on me, she scooped me up into her arms. She cared for me, and was one of the only people who befriended me,not because of my beauty.

Don´t get me wrong, I appreciate the praise, it just becomes too much after a while. Like one day when I was a kid, I was walking and collapsed on the floor to lie down, you know like normal kids do. Euryale seemed unbothered, but my parents panicked and thought I died. That's right, I´m mortal.

My parents and sister are both goddesses, immortal. For some reason, my genes just didn't get the message and made me mortal. Mortals living among gods and goddesses are meant to be treated like slaves like they aren't worth anything. Every day I would walk among the clouds, and see people like me getting yelled at, forced to be servants, and sometimes even beaten. 

For some reason I wasn't treated like that, maybe it was my looks or the way I acted, but either way, I consider myself lucky. One day me and Eurayle were playing together when my parents entered the room.

¨Euryale, time to go to school!¨ Ceto (My mom) shouted from the doorway. I hate those words Time to go to school. It means that my one true friend will leave me for hours, alone with my parents. It's not like my parents are bad or anything, it's just that they were 15 feet tall and always watching me.

I bite my bottom lip and before I know what I'm doing, I cling onto Eurayles leg, and start begging her not to go. The room falls silent as everyone stands there in shock, including me. Ceto and Phorsys (My dad) try to pull me off, but my grip is too strong. Tears are streaming down my cheeks (Which apparently only mortals do) as I continue to beg for Euryale to stay here with me.

My parents look at each other conflicted, as if they are having a silent chat with each other. They probably were, apparently immortals who are soulmates can, but I wouldn't know. 

My sister looks around, trying to shake me off of her leg, but fails. In her desperate attempt she shouts this. ¨How about Medusa comes with me to school? She is already treated like an immortal anyway.¨ My eyes light up at the thought, as I nod my head violently. My parents look conflicted, but after realizing they don't really have a better option reluctantly agree.
