Blackout (블랙아웃)

Chapter-7 Trial of the Flame Dragon

Chapter-7 Trial of the Flame Dragon

Aug 12, 2025

The sun had long since slipped behind the horizon. A heavy curtain of purple and black hung over the sky. The city's streetlights flickered unsteadily, and sirens wailed faintly in the distance.Omer Jin-Hoo pulled his black hood over his head and walked with determined steps.Only one thought echoed in his mind:"This is the only way to save my family."With each step, the soles of his boots struck the wet asphalt, the sound reverberating through the narrow streets. Yet there was no trace of peace in his mind. Unanswered questions kept circling in his head."What is this system? Why do dungeons exist? Why are people forced to enter them? And… why am I still alive? That day… I killed myself…"Omer shook his head slightly. He didn't want to remember that dark day. Now, he had only one goal: to find the key to the Triton Dungeon.Just then, a mechanical, emotionless voice echoed in his mind:

[System: To enter Triton Dungeon, find the Key. Proceed to the designated location.]

Omer glanced at the compass-like marker the system had displayed. A red arrow pointed toward one of the city's abandoned districts. Within minutes, he was standing before a large construction site surrounded by rusty metal sheets. The air was heavy, the smell of earth and metal stinging his nostrils. Half-finished concrete pillars rose into the dark sky like skeletal remains. On the ground lay scattered rubble and rusty nails carried by the wind.Omer slowed his steps. Each movement made the stones beneath his boots crunch softly. After scouting the area for a while, he stepped inside. But within minutes, he realized something strange: no matter how far he walked, he could not leave the construction site. When he turned around, the same concrete pillars he had passed moments ago stood before him again. It was as if an invisible wall had trapped him inside.

Omer frowned slightly.

"Is this… a trap?"

At that moment, he felt a strange vibration in the air. Dust particles seemed to freeze in midair, and then, in the center of the concrete floor, a portal appeared. A swirling black-and-purple vortex, hiding a dark unknown in its depths.Omer paused before stepping in. His heartbeat quickened—not from fear, but from something closer to excitement.

"Don't waste time… whatever comes out, you won't back down."

Without hesitation, he stepped into the darkness.A cold wind brushed against his face. When he opened his eyes, he found himself in a stone corridor shrouded in mist. Flickering torches along the walls cast weak light, and droplets of water dripping from the ceiling echoed in the distance.Far away, a muffled howl broke the silence. When he quickened his pace, glowing eyes emerged from the shadows. Three massive wolves, their fur bristling, bared their teeth as they slowly advanced.Omer drew the Twin Moon Dagger from the sheath at his waist. The steel's glint in the darkness clashed with the wild gleam in the wolves' eyes. The first wolf leapt, but Omer sidestepped and drove the dagger into its throat. The other two attacked almost simultaneously, but he used his speed to cut them down with swift, precise strikes.
Blood dripped onto the stone floor. Omer steadied his breathing.

"Too easy… but this is only the beginning."

As he moved forward, a narrow passage opened before him. At its end, elf warriors stood, bows in hand. Their eyes were icy blue, their movements deadly and graceful.
Omer deflected the first arrows that came his way, closed the distance, and sank his daggers into their chests. Within seconds, all of them were lying on the ground. The deeper he went, the mist gave way to complete darkness. Then he saw a faintly glowing door at the end of the corridor. When he opened it, a silhouette of a man in a suit appeared in the dim light. The man stood with his back turned, his face hidden.

Omer called out:

"Who… are you?"

The man slowly turned. He was middle-aged, with a stern gaze.

"Seok-jin. Deputy Director of the Wolf Guild."

Omer narrowed his eyes.

"What are you doing here? Tell me where my family is."

Seok-jin hesitated for a moment.

"This… is a long story. I can tell you if you want."

"Of course."

The man parted his lips and began to speak… but Omer heard nothing. His lips moved, but no sound came out. It was as if an invisible hand had stolen the voice.

Omer asked again:

"Can you hear me? What did you say?"

Seok-jin looked at him with a blank expression.

"I don't remember what I said."

A sense of unease crept into Omer's chest.

"Something… is wrong here."

The echoes of Seok-jin's unfinished story still lingered in Omer's mind.He had asked the man countless questions, yet received no answers. It was as if an invisible veil had been draped over the man's thoughts.Seok-jin shrugged slightly, his eyes dull and expressionless as he looked at Omer.

"You shouldn't go. This place is dangerous for you."

But Omer's resolve did not waver for even a moment.

"My family is there. I don't know what happened, but I have to go."

With those words, he ignored Seok-jin's warnings and continued down the dark corridor. His footsteps struck the stone floor with a sharp, echoing sound each reverberation stirring the fear inside him, yet he refused to stop. The corridor grew wider, its walls riddled with cracks. The air became heavy, making it harder to breathe.Suddenly, the darkness gave way to the sound of furious roars. When Omer stepped through a rusted gate, he felt as though he had entered a massive arena. The savage cries of orcs echoed all around him.Thunderous roars shook the ground, and the metallic clamor of iron armor filled the air.At the far end, their leader sat upon a throne a massive, broad-shouldered brute, his face painted with terrifying war marks. A colossal battle axe rested in his grip, never leaving his hand.
His eyes burned with lethal intent, and his words were a challenge:

"Wretched human, what business do you have here? Bow before me, or die!"

Omer replied with calm defiance:

"Try me, if you can."

For a moment, silence hung in the air then chaos erupted. The orcs charged forward.
Omer unleashed the power within him.
Using his speed and agility, he cut down the first wave of orcs before they could even strike. The Twin Moon Dagger moved in sharp, swift arcs, tearing through enemies.
Blood sprayed between clashes of steel, and the sound of metal rang through the arena.
The orcs were fierce in both strength and numbers, but Omer's skill kept him one step ahead. When another tried to close in, Omer struck it down effortlessly before turning his focus to the Orc King, who had slammed his axe into the ground with a thunderous crash.
The king attacked in a frenzy. At first, Omer struggled, taking a few hits, but he countered with his speed. Finally, he drew the Blood Demon's Dagger and, with a powerful strike, tore the Orc King apart. The roars of the orcs fell silent, and the arena was drowned in stillness.Exhausted but determined, Omer stepped away from the fallen king.On the throne, a glowing key appeared.

As he picked it up, he thought to himself:

"Was it really this easy?"

But doubt quickly followed.

The dark secrets of the dungeon lay much deeper. When Omer stepped outside, his character screen shimmered into view:

He took a deep breath, tightened his grip on the key, and set out for the Triton Dungeon.
His journey was only the beginning of his adventure.Omer walked through the quiet yet tense streets of Suwon, holding the shining key in his hand. The sky was covered with gray clouds, and a gentle wind shivered through the streets. With every step, his heart beat faster; at the entrance of the dungeon stood the massive stone gates.Carvings of ancient battle scenes, dragons, and magical symbols adorned the doors. When he inserted the key into the lock, the grim stone doors slowly creaked open.A cold breeze rushed out, brushing against Omer's face.

The First Levels of the Dungeon

Inside, the air was damp and dark.

Water dripped down the stone walls, echoing in the silence.Omer stepped carefully, the Dagger of the Blood Demon sharp and ready in his grip.As he moved through the corridors, shapes slowly emerged from the darkness:
Glowing eyes in the shadows, whispers of small creatures, and occasional distant growls. But Omer wasn't afraid. Each time, he drew his dagger and struck; his enemies fell one by one.At last, he reached the deepest layer of the dungeon. Before him lay a vast hall, ablaze with roaring fire.In its center stood the massive Flame Dragon Genfre. Its scales, glowing in countless shades of red and orange, illuminated the room, radiating waves of scorching heat.Behind Genfre stood an entire army of colossal, winged dragons each mesmerizing yet deadly in appearance.

Omer drew his dagger with confidence.

"This time… it won't be easy."

He launched the first attack, but Genfre and his army retaliated swiftly. The dagger failed to pierce the dragon's armor it was as if a powerful shield of fire protected it.
Omer increased his speed, but it was useless. He paused for a moment, took a deep breath. Then he unsheathed the Twin Moon Dagger, converting his power points into tokens, and raised the weapon's level to 50.With his newfound strength, he attacked again.Slowly, he began to take down the dragon army, but he sustained heavy injuries in the process.Genfre slashed with his claws and unleashed torrents of flames from his maw, shattering Omer's defenses.
