Blackout (블랙아웃)

Chapter 17-Shadow and Light

Chapter 17-Shadow and Light

Aug 14, 2025

The grand, marble-paved hall of the Korean Government Building was shrouded in a tense silence. President Park Seo-Joon stood at the podium, a look of concern etched on his face. He set aside his notes and turned to the hunters and government officials filling the hall. "An unexpected disaster may occur in Tokyo," he began, his voice echoing in every corner of the room. "The ripple effect of this would directly threaten Korea."
The President's words caused murmurs to spread through the hall. Everyone was aware of how critical the situation in Japan had become. "We have signed an urgent agreement with the Japanese Government," the President continued. "According to the agreement, a large number of South Korean hunters will go to Tokyo to provide support."
However, the President had saved the most important decision for last. "However," he paused, "there is one exception among these hunters: Omer Jin-Hoo. He is our only Z-level hunter. We need him to defend our people. Therefore, Mr. Hunter Omer Jin-Hoo will remain in Korea. Special Forces units will accompany him for support."
Just then, the doors of the hall burst open with a loud bang. All eyes turned to the entrance. The person who entered was none other than Omer Jin-Hoo, a figure who radiated charisma even in his suit, captivating everyone with his aura. He had an incredibly stylish outfit and immaculately groomed hair. The pleasant and refreshing scent of his perfume, which he left in his wake with every step, was enough to dissipate the tense atmosphere in the hall.Omer advanced with determined steps toward President Park Seo-Joon. The resolve in his eyes was the reason for the silence that had spread through the room. When he stood before the President, he spoke in a clear and non-negotiable tone: "No. Nobody is going anywhere."This unexpected statement shocked everyone in the hall. Omer fixed his gaze on the President and continued, "Byung-Ho, the SSS-level hunter, and I will go to Japan. All the remaining hunters will assist in the defense of our country."
After this assertive declaration, he left the hall without giving anyone a chance to speak. In the high-ceilinged hall of the government building, nothing remained but the astonished and curious eyes he left behind.
Omer Jin-Hoo's Emergency Plan
Omer went up to the rooftop of one of Seoul's tallest buildings. Under the city lights, far from the chaos below, he took a deep breath. His eyes were on the horizon, searching for Tokyo's dark silhouette. He raised his hand, creating a dimensional rift. From the glowing rift, his loyal servants, Neroth and Baran, emerged.Omer turned to them and gave short, clear instructions: "Baran," he began, "you and the 5000 soldiers I will give you will protect my mother and sister. Make sure they are safe."
He then turned to Neroth. "Neroth, find Byung-Ho and bring him to Tokyo quickly."
The two servants simultaneously bowed respectfully and said, "Understood, my king," before leaving to carry out their duties.
Finally, Omer Jin-Hoo turned to Antaios, the shadow servant who was always by his side. "Antaios, we are going to Tokyo," he commanded. Antaios's flaming wings and armored silhouette appeared behind Omer, and the two vanished instantly.
While Seoul remained calm, the first step in a chain of events that could change the fate of the world had been taken. As Omer Jin-Hoo set off for Tokyo, similar events continued to unfold on other continents.Under the gray, foggy skies of London, far from the city's crowds, a mysterious dungeon gate had opened. At the entrance to this gate stood a colossal figure surrounded by hundreds of thousands of soldiers: the National-Level Hunter Troy Vance. His long, brown coat billowed in the wind as his eyes were locked on the darkness of the dungeon.Troy Vance was a hunter known throughout the world, a legend in his own right. However, this dungeon emitted a different aura. There was no trace of the ordinary monster scents he usually felt when entering a dungeon. Instead, he felt a chilling energy coursing through his veins. As his army advanced into the dungeon, one of his most trusted commanders, Travis Kane, approached him. "Sir," Travis said, "I don't think this dungeon has a boss. You can leave this to us. Even if one appears, it won't be strong enough to challenge you."Troy didn't shake his head, his gaze never leaving the dark corridors. "No, you're wrong, Travis," he whispered. His voice was like a storm piercing the silence. "I can feel it. I feel the aura of a Monster... Keep moving forward!"At his command, the army accelerated. But suddenly, everything came to a halt. Before the troops could understand what was happening, Peter Donald, one of Troy's strongest men and an SSS-level hunter, collapsed without a sound. His body was motionless, and his head was gone. The entire army was stunned. No one had seen what had struck him. The only visible thing was a very fast, indistinct silhouette.
The silhouette, with the same speed that it had killed Peter, was now closing in on Travis Kane. Its dagger was about to pierce Travis's heart when... it was suddenly met by an explosive punch. The force of the punch sent the silhouette flying backward.Troy Vance threw his coat off his shoulders. Instead of his stylish clothes, he was now clad in a battle-armor-like outfit, looking like the very embodiment of raw power. He attacked with a speed that seemingly surpassed the speed of light. A deadly dance had begun between the silhouette and Troy Vance. The battle was so fast that the soldiers could only see aura waves exploding in the air. Each strike was like a nuclear attack, shaking the dungeon walls.Troy's army was forced to retreat to avoid being caught in the middle of this horrifying power. Travis Kane was thrown against a wall with every blow but still managed to survive the fight. The battle continued with all its fury.Realizing he had fought with every last ounce of his strength, Troy used his "EMPOWER" technique. His body was enveloped in a glowing yellow aura, and he became even more formidable, as if he had donned a suit of armor. The deadly yellow light emanating from his eyes was a sign that Troy was preparing to deliver the final blow. With a single punch, the indistinct silhouette was completely shattered.
But the battle wasn't over. From the dissipating smoke, a jet-black, armored, and terrifying figure emerged. Unlike the bright knight in Tokyo, this figure radiated a dark aura. It gave Troy a deadly stare. The name of this dark knight was "Xerathul."
Troy Vance was ready to face his new enemy. However, he sensed that this foe was far more dangerous than anything he had ever faced before. The fate of the London dungeon depended on the deadly struggle between these two giants. The once vibrant and sparkling metropolis of Tokyo was now a silent, abandoned ghost city. Through the ruined buildings and abandoned cars, a convoy of hundreds of official vehicles slowly advanced. The man who stepped out of the armored limousine at the front was Russia's pride, National-Level Hunter Alexei Dragunov. With every step, he radiated a powerful and cold aura that seemed to make the very air around him tremble. His Prada shirt and expensive suit made him look like an ordinary businessman, but the determination in his eyes was enough to freeze anyone who crossed his path.Alexei separated from his convoy and walked toward the entrance of the dungeon. When he reached the door, he turned to his assistants. "Wait for me here," he commanded sternly. The assistants obeyed his orders without a moment's hesitation. Alexei stepped alone into the dark and eerie passage of the dungeon.
The first sight inside told the whole story. The four fragmented corpses of the four children who had first entered the dungeon lay on the ground. Despite this tragic scene, Alexei continued to move forward, hiding his emotions. He easily destroyed the simple orcs and elves he first encountered with a single touch. No enemy could stand against his speed and power.Suddenly, he stopped. He felt an aura that made his body shudder, carrying the very scent of death. This aura was more powerful and dense than any he had ever encountered before. Cautiously, he entered the room from which this deadly energy was coming. In the middle of the room, on a high throne, he saw a knight with a body covered in yellow armor that seemed to glow. This knight was named Lyvrael; the knight of Solaerth, the ancient master of light.
With a defiant voice, Alexei asked this mysterious figure, "Who are you?"
Without getting up from his throne, Lyvrael replied, "I think there's been a mistake. You are not the person our master wants."
Alexei was disturbed by this condescending attitude. "I am a national-level hunter," he said. "I can destroy your master."
Lyvrael continued without caring about these words: "A simple piece of human like you cannot utter my master's name." Following his words, he rose from his throne and took a long, sharp sword in his hand. Suddenly, with a speed that exceeded the speed of light, he attacked Alexei. The shockwave from the attack shattered the entire room.
Alexei noticed blood flowing from his chest and his expensive Prada shirt was torn. He was suddenly filled with rage. "You will pay dearly for this," he roared. "Taste the power of a national-level hunter!"He made a hand gesture toward the entrance of the dungeon. Millions of armored soldiers began to pour in through the dungeon door. Alexei rolled up his sleeves and turned to Lyvrael. "This will be your grave!"Alexei's attack began with a deadly punch thrown at Lyvrael. Every punch, every blow, was like a nuclear explosion. His entire army was scattered around Lyvrael. The walls were shattered, the floor cracked, and the entire place was on the verge of collapse. Lyvrael's armor was riddled with holes from Alexei's attacks. But Lyvrael also turned the entire area to dust with the shockwave he emitted from his sword. The clash of these two giants had the potential to completely destroy Tokyo.
