‎"Yes,she just finished a surgery awhile ago and is even looking for you. "He said in a polite manner and I smiled. I kinda liked his personality though.

‎"Okay then,see you later"I said and continued my journey. I wanted to share the good news to him but I couldn't when I hadn't informed my best friend first.

‎

‎I decided to go to Dina's desk and as predicted,she was there happily chatting with Dina. I walked to them and jump–scared them but it seemed they already noticed me before I got to them.I cleared my throat in embarrassment.

‎

‎"Did you think we didn't see you coming or what?" Dina asked as she looked at Cas's face and they both started laughing.

‎

‎"Yeah haha,very funny"I said sarcastically. 

‎

‎"Thank God you're also free,Dina and I were planning to go to the cafeteria. Wanna join?"she asked.

‎

‎"Yes of course,but first I have great news for you"I said.

‎

‎"Oh my God,did you really tell him"she asked looking curiously excited.

‎

‎"What? no. Why would I ?" I said. Gosh,was there anytime that she wouldn't ask me that question. Such a worrywart.

‎

‎"Tell him what, and who?"Dina asked looking confused. Of course she didn't know about Leonard.

‎

‎"Ahm nothing,Dina not that is any of your business" Cas retorted. Ouch, solid blow.

‎Dina's face deteriorated and I giggled.

‎

‎"Geez sorry for asking"she said as she pulled back herself into work.

‎

‎"So what is it that you want to tell me. It better be something big" she warned. It was something big of course,this could  increase my salary big time again and I could become one of the executives in the hospital.

‎

‎"I have been selected to go and represent in the IHC again" I said and her face beamed with a big smile.

‎

‎"What!!!really,I'm so happy for you. Congratulations."She yelled and I laughed.

‎

‎"Madam,we are in a hospital please" Dina rebuked as she typed something into her computer but Cas didn't bat an eye to what she said. She was just smiling in pride and happiness.I felt overjoyed that she was like this. Very lucky to have a friend like her.

‎

‎"Someone isn't happy for me."I said as I starred at Dina who kept her eyes on the screen.

‎

‎"Oh I am,it's just that I already knew half an hour ago."She said expressionlessly and I was surprised.

‎

‎"How did you know?"Cas and I simultaneously asked.

‎

‎"Jinx"she screamed as she pinched my arm very hard which made me flinch.

‎

‎"Aww that hurt" I said as I rubbed the place she had offended.

‎

‎"It was supposed to.Now you owe me three favors"she declared with a satisfied expression which made me roll my eyes. This was a game we played and it went like this:Anytime two friends said the same sentence or word at the same time,the one quicker to say the word 'Jinx' and pinch the other can ask a favor from him or her and that's what she had just done to me. She had got me thrice whilst she owed me only a favor.

‎ "Let's say the president sent for you just as an IHC person left the hospital. So putting two and two together,I realized you were the one going to represent. Congratulations,if that's what you need" she explained and I nodded.

‎

‎"This calls for a celebration. " Cas declared with stars in her eyes.

‎

‎"Have you informed grandpa Ted yet?"she asked and I shook my head.

‎

‎"Then let's break it to him when we get home"she suggested and I nodded.

‎

‎"Speaking of him,how is he? I haven't seen him this week"Dina asked.

‎

‎"He had something to do so his check up was postponed tomorrow" I answered and she nodded.

‎

‎"Oh please drop the act Dina,we all know it is because of his desserts you are asking of his health" Cas said bluntly with disdain which made me laugh.

‎

‎"What!how can you be so crust. I was just asking about his health."She defended herself.

‎

‎"Besides his cookies are amazing. The chocolate ones are my favorite"she muttered which made me burst into more laughter.

‎

‎"See,what did I say?"

‎

‎"But it's the truth ." Dina retorted innocently.

‎

‎"Enough with the chit chat and let's go and have some lunch. I'm really starving". I said as I held Cas's hand and pulled her towards the cafeteria of the hospital.

‎

‎"Wait for me guys."Dina shouted as she left her desk and rushed to join us.

‎

‎"Who would stand in for you?"I asked her.

‎

‎"My shift is almost over and Jessica is here already. "She explained and pointed at the lady sitting near the desk reading a book. We didn't even notice her the whole time.

‎

‎"Let's go join the others there"Dina suggested pointing at the group of doctors at the corner of the cafeteria.

‎

‎"Yeah let's go there"Cas exclaimed once she saw her boyfriend sitting in the group also. I rolled my eyes at her behavior and she noticed.

‎

‎"What,is there a problem trying to be close to him? I have to seize every opportunity"she asked shamelessly which made me giggle.

‎

‎Soon the three of us got to the group of doctors and made our presence known to them by greeting.

‎

‎"Yeah hi,Dr. Light and Dr. Stones"Dr. Calahan responded.

‎

‎"Join us please. "Dr. Solano said courteously and we nodded making our way to sit by them.

‎

‎"What would you guys have because I'm going to the vendor"Brandon volunteered.

‎

‎"I would have a latte and burger please"Dina replied.

‎

‎"Same here"I said and everyone looked at Cas who seemed to be in a daze. Her eyes were completely glued to Branson who seemed to stare at her also. I nudged her to snap out of it.

‎

‎"Hmm yeah I will have what he's also having"she quickly said and I giggled.

‎

‎ Okay then,I'm leaving"Branson announced as he winked at her headed to the cafeteria shop.

‎

‎"So what's popping guys? Anything to share? I'm really dying of boredom right now."June exclaimed.

‎

‎Cas looked at me and just as I opened my mouth;"Chris is to represent us in the IHC" she blurted out.

‎

‎"Cas that was my news to tell" I scolded her.

‎

‎"Sorry couldn't help myself"She apologized.

‎

‎"Wow,really, again,that's fantastic news.Congratulations"Victoria congratulated.

‎

‎"That's awesome news,meaning he is going to bring the championship home again. I can't wait for that to happen"Brian exclaimed making us laugh.

‎

‎"Yeah me too"Cas said

‎

‎"Why do you have that look on your face June"Dina suddenly asked and we all turned to look at June.

‎

‎"Well I'm really happy for you Chris but don't you think others won't be happy about this? After all you've been to this two consecutive times . Other doctors would see it unfair to be denied this opportunity. If I wasn't your friend,I wouldn't be happy about this to be frank" June explained and the atmosphere quickly changed.

‎

‎"I think what she said makes sense. I don't really understand why the president really favors you that much. Are you somehow related?" Brian asked me.

‎

‎"He and my grandpa are just friends"I answered. Me myself didn't know why I was favored by him like that. It couldn't be just because he was friends with grandpa.

‎

‎"I honestly thought he would choose Dr. Hills to go and represent. Not him neglecting his own son"Victoria muttered and checked around if any outsider was listening.

‎

‎"I'm sure he would reject the offer if he was asked .I think his father knew that's why he didn't bother to ask. We all know how he likes to keep a low profile."Dina said.

‎

‎"Yeah,he's the perfect match for me" Victoria said with dreamy eyes and I somehow  flinched. Cas gazed at me to see my reaction and I quickly averted my gaze from hers before I could see her give me that"See,someone has a crush on him too. Seize him before you lose Him" look.

‎

‎"Continue to live in your fantasy Vic. Reality is waiting for you"June said and we all laughed.

‎

‎"You wait and see,we would be together before you guys know it"she vowed. God forbid.

‎

‎"Can't wait for that Dr. Calahan" Dina said with a mocking smile plastered on her face.

‎

‎"What did I miss?" Branson arrived as he carried a plastic bag and three paper bags. He distributed the foods and we thanked him for his kindness.Miss is lucky to have such a considerate boyfriend.

‎

‎"Chris is representing us in the IHC"Cas told her boyfriend obviously.

‎

‎"Really that's good to hear congrats.But don't you think others won't be happy about this. I for one wanted to apply for the nomination"he narrated.

‎

‎"Yeah that's what I said,it looks really suspicious,doesn't it?"June asked and this made me start to feel guilty. I also felt that it wasn't fair to the others that I got this opportunity again but I couldn't bite the hand of those who fed me.

‎

‎Cas noticed my uneasiness and came to my rescue.

‎

‎"So what? There is nothing suspicious about this. I for one think it is because he has won two consecutive times and the president has absolute trust he would win again."Great,not she already jinxing me.

‎

‎"Yeah I think so too"June said and they all nodded.

‎

‎"Thanks guys for your support"I said really touched.

‎

‎"Don't worry about the hate,you completely deserve it.No need to feel guilty" Branson assured and I nodded.

‎

‎We all quieted down to finish our lunch and after some chatting about unnecessary stuffs,we departed so carry on with our work.
