‎"I think we should go back and join the others. I'm okay now"he claimed and Mak was disappointed that their alone time had come to an end earlier than expected .She didn't show it on her face though. She smiled and nodded in agreement with him.

‎

‎"Yeah let's go inside. Lucy would be looking for me by now"she said and the two stood up from the bench and headed inside the school where the students were still dancing.

‎

‎No sooner did they enter than Lucy appeared in front of them. It seemed Mak was right that her friend was looking for them.

‎

‎"Hey,I have been looking for you everywhere.Where did you guys go?"she asked them.

‎

‎"We went outside for some air,I needed to relax after dancing like that."Justin answered.

‎

‎"You do not look tired though.You are really energetic."He complimented her.

‎

‎"What can I say?I have been working out every morning."She stated in pride,her head high. Makayla rolled her eyes at her best friend. She always became arrogant and proud when complimented.

‎

‎"That sounds good. You are an awesome girl." He continued to praise and for some reason,Makayla felt uneasy. Not that she was jealous of her best friend or something.It was just that she felt incompetent. Lucy was pretty,rich,popular and awesome whilst she was this weird and inexperienced girl.

‎

‎"Mak have you voted for me for the Prom Queen title?"she asked pulling Mak from her train of thoughts. Dammit,she had completely forgotten about that. Well could you blame her when she was so caught up in she and Justin's drama?

‎

‎Lucy had gotten her answer when she saw the apologetic and guilty expression on her best friend's face.

‎

‎"You haven't. How could you forget something so important?Quickly,do it now before the portal closes. "she ordered and Mak took her phone from her purse and started to vote for her friend on their school platform. Each vote amounted to $5 and Mak paid for ten votes. That was how she cherished her best friend.

‎

‎"How many votes did you buy for me?"Lucy asked Mak once she was done.

‎

‎"Ten votes"Mak plainly stated and both Lucy and Justin opened their mouths in shock.

‎

‎"That's $50.You didn't have to go that far."she said. She was rich but she knew how $50 was a big amount for some kids her age. Especially Justin. He was so shocked,even he who had also decided to go for Prom King only paid for five votes for himself.He suddenly realized that these girls' relationship was something so pure and strong.

‎

‎"It's no big deal. I want you to win or else you won't stop crying if you didn't."Mak stated.

‎

‎"Aww,you are such a sweetheart,you know me so well."Lucy said as she hugged her best friend.

‎

‎"You too,do same. "Lucy said to Justin as she retracted from her friend's embrace.

‎

‎"Uhm,sorry but you know I'm also going for Prom King so I used up all my money for my votes."he explained as he scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.

‎

‎Mak was surprised to hear what Justin said. She didn't know he had also gone for that.

‎

‎"I didn't know you also wanted to become Prom King. Sorry,I would have voted for you right now but I spent all my money on hers."she explained.

‎

‎"Hey,you are saying it as if I'm the bad guy who told you not to vote for him"Lucy exclaimed a little angry and Mak quickly apologized.

‎

‎"I'm sorry,I didn't mean it that way"

‎

‎"It's okay,I don't need you girls fighting because of me. I'm satisfied with my votes and only hope I win now. I really appreciate the effort though Makayla. You don't have to feel guilty. "He assured and Mak nodded.

‎

‎"Okay then,should we continue dancing?I feel hyped all of a sudden. "Lucy stated as she started shaking her body to the beats of the music in the background.

‎

‎"Yeah I think I have been rejuvenated by the fresh air and earlier resting.What about you Makayla?"he asked.

‎

‎"I think I will dance more"she said and the two smiled.

‎

‎"Then it's settled. Let's go have...."

‎

‎"There you are"August, Lucy's boyfriend interrupted her and had made his way to our side.

‎

‎"Why did you leave me all alone at the dancefloor?"he asked as he made a sad puppy expression.

‎

‎"My apologies I went to look for Mak."she answered and he looked at Makayla with a smiling face.They definitely knew each other since their best friend and girlfriend was Lucy.

‎

‎"Hi Makayla,you look beautiful in your dress. That was something you pulled back there. You and him"He said as he motioned to Justin. He was referring to the ball dance they did earlier.

‎

‎"Thanks Augi,you look quite handsome as well. "Mak complimented and they both smiled.

‎

‎"Okay now let's go and dance and stop the chit chat"Lucy said as she danced her way to the crowd.The other three also followed suit and started to have fun again.

‎

‎Twenty minutes passed when the deejay finally ended the music which made the crowd moan in dissatisfaction.

‎

‎Michelle came on the stage again.

‎

‎"Sorry but it is time and the voting portal has closed. We are now waiting for our Prom King and Queen to be mentioned"she said and everywhere became silent.

‎

‎Lucy held her best friend's hand,closed her eyes and started whispering some words. Mak noticed herher best friend was really nervous so she tightened her grip on her hand to calm her down.She checked on Justin and realized he was doing just fine. It was either he didn't care that much about the Prom King thing or he was just great at hiding his emotions.Mak thought. Either way she was here for the two of them if things didn't go their way.

‎"Here are the names of the students who decided to run for Prom King and Queen.

‎

‎Isaac Owens,

‎

‎Jonah Fur,

‎

‎August Sand and

‎

‎Justin Parker for Prom King and

‎

‎"Bianca Shrills,

‎

‎Clara Deeds,

‎

‎Lucy Spears and

‎

‎Jessica Mayhem for Prom Queen."she mentioned.

‎

‎"And our Prom King and Queen are..,drum roll please"she said and we all stamped our feet on the ground.

‎

‎"Our Prom King and Queen are August Sand and Lucy Spears"Michelle announced and everyone started cheering.

‎

‎ Lucy with a huge smile plastered on her face went up to the stage with August as they received their crown. Makayla was so happy for them as she started clapping but soon stopped when she saw Justin. There was sadness and disappointment evident on his face . She got close to him and asked if he was fine.

‎

‎"Hey are you okay?"

‎

‎"Yeah,just need some time alone"He said,turned and headed outside. She was feeling bad and wanted to go and console but she didn't since he made it clear he wanted to alone.
