‎"Is there anything you would like to eat or drink?"he asked as he pulled a chair for himself and sat down.

‎

‎"Only water,I'm not hungry yet."I answered and he nodded. He then raised his hand and few seconds later,a person who I saw was in a waiter outfit showed.

‎

‎"Good evening sir.Is there anything I can help you with ?"he asked politely with a big smile plastered on his face.

‎

‎"Yes please,I would like two bottles of water ."he answered courteously.

‎

‎"Right away ."the waiter said,bowed his head and soon went to fulfill our request.

‎

‎"This place is really looks elegant.I never knew there was a huge building like this in this city. I must say,your friend is insanely rich."I said as I watched around the whole place. Everything here reeked of elegance.

‎

‎"The whole building isn't for him. He only rented this part for his restaurant."Leonard explained.

‎

‎"Oh is that so,even still the restaurant alone shows he is rich or am I exaggerating it?"I asked him.

‎

‎"I don't think so."he answered. The waiter came after a minute and brought our water . Placing each one in front of Leonard and I,he asked;

‎

‎"Is there anything else I can help you with sir?"

‎

‎"No, thank you. That would be all. "Leonard replied and the waiter nodded and left. I opened the bottle and drank some water and then placed it back on the table after I had my fill.

‎

‎Leonard was also drinking his and I couldn't help but glance at his throat where his Adam's apple was moving up and down when he gulped his water. I subconsciously swallowed my saliva.Control yourself Chris. Just get your answer before you make any rush decisions.

‎

‎"How is your shipping company doing ?"I asked once he placed the bottle of water back on the table.

‎

‎"It is doing well,the only problem is the storm that makes it dangerous for transportation on the sea."He said.

‎

‎"Oh that would eventually pass. You can't fight nature"I said to him.

‎

‎"Yeah I know. I hope it comes down soon."he said.

‎

‎"What about your gold company in Ghana?Got any gold yet?"I asked.

‎

‎"The gold is now very hard to come by these months.You really know a lot about my business."he said and I felt uncomfortable thinking he suspected something.

‎

‎"Of course I know. I admire your level of ambition. You are a successful surgeon,soon to inherit your father's property which is worth a billion but still,you established your own businesses. I gotta say,you seem really hungry for money."I joked and we laughed.

‎

‎"I just love doing business."he said .

‎

‎"You don't say. Trying to become like your father."I added.

‎

‎"So how are your preparations towards the International Health Competition?"he asked.

‎

‎"I'm doing well with the studies,just can't help but still feel uneasy and tensed anytime some surgeons  look at me with contempt because I was chosen for the third time. Also the pressure is now high since your father chose me again and I can't disappoint him. "I explained to him sincerely.

‎

‎"Hey hang in there,you can do it. Forget those people. You deserve this opportunity and don't feel pressured. My father is not going to be angry or disappointed if you lose the competition. Trust me on that."he assured as he starred at me and so did I. My heart started to race as I felt I was being held captive by his magnetic eyes. For some split seconds I felt he also had feelings for me but I knew it was me getting ahead of myself so averting my gaze,I spoke;

‎

‎"Yeah I will hold your word on that."I said

‎

‎"Besides,it's not like you are going to lose."He stated.

‎

‎"See,now you are giving me the pressure."I exclaimed.

‎

‎"I'm not,I'm just stating the fact and encouraging you."he explained and we both laughed. If it wasn't this meeting,I'm sure I  have never heard him laugh before. His laughter was like music to my ears and I wanted to hear more of it.

‎

‎"Okay .Since you have so much faith in me,I will try my very best to win the competition." I promised.

‎

‎"That's the spirit."he said

‎

‎"Good evening everyone and welcome to my launching party."A man to be the same age as Leonard said as he stood on the stage with a mic in his left hand.

‎

‎"I'm guessing he is your friend."I said to Leonard and he nodded.

‎

‎"I'm very happy you all came to support me as I open my new restaurant. This restaurant is one of the fanciest in this city and has  almost every dish in the world."He said and Leonard and I including every guest here applauded to that.

‎

‎''Told you he was rich."I muttered to Leonard.

‎The man on the stage made a long somehow boring speech and after finally announcing that the restaurant was officially opened,everyone applauded . He then  dismounted the stage and started to go around each table as he greeted his guests. I was going to meet Leonard's friend. I got a little nervous thinking about that and decided to impress him so before he got to us,I raised my hand and soon the same waiter arrived. It seemed that every single table had a waiter for it. Wow,how convenient and elegant was that?

‎

‎"I would like some spaghetti and meat balls please. "I answered when he asked me what I wanted.

‎

‎"I would like kimchi please."Leonard said to the waiter. That was a Korean dish.

‎

‎"A Korean dish?"I asked and he nodded.

‎

‎"I really love Korean dishes,why do you look surprised?"he asked.

‎

‎"No I'm not,I also like them but my favorite is ramyeon."I answered.

‎

‎"Oh okay,I also like ramyeon but not as compared to kimchi. "He said and I nodded. The waiter then bowed and left ready to prepare our orders.

‎

‎"So where did you two meet?"I asked as I pointed at his friend who was happily moving from table to table,engaging his guests in  a conversation.

‎

‎"We met at high school and he was the one who sat next to me in class."he explained.Oh how I wished I had met you in high school .

‎

‎"You haven't told me his name yet ."I stated and he blushed softly in embarrassment.

‎

‎"Sorry I forgot with all the conversation we were having."he apologized.

‎

‎"Gabriel Decker"He stated and I nodded.

‎

‎"Sounds familiar,what does he do aside from this?"I asked and he was about to answer me when the waiter appeared again. What,that fast? .He served me my spaghetti and meat balls then later did so for Leonard.

‎

‎"Thank you."I said.

‎

‎"Anything else?"he asked but and we  shook our heads in response. He then bowed and left.

‎

‎"That was quite fast."I muttered to Leonard as he nodded and started eat his food and I followed suit.

‎

‎"Hey Leonard,you showed up. Hold on ,is this your boyfriend? What?I didn't know you were into men,no wonder you rejected all the girls back in high school."His friend,who I didn't notice when, had showed up and said as he starred at me with wonder and stars in his eyes.

‎

‎A boyfriend,why did he think that?Were we giving off that vibe?I kinda felt happy he thought that but my bubble got popped when Leonard corrected him.

‎

‎"He is my friend and my colleague in the hospital."he said as he looked at me with an apologetic expression which made my heart sink.

‎

‎"Oh my bad,I had the wrong idea then. I had told him to bring someone close to him if he was going to come to my party and I had either thought he would bring his father or his girlfriend. Hope you are not offended?"He explained directly to me.

‎

‎"Of course not,it's just a misunderstanding."I said with a smile on my face.

‎

‎"My dad had a meeting to attend to and I have a girlfriend,if you must know but she's currently in abroad studying law."Leonard said and that's when my whole world came crumbling down into pieces .I felt a sharp pain in my heart. As if it had been pierced with a knife. I almost forgot to breathe. Did he just say he had a girlfriend?So he wasn't into me at all and only saw me as his colleague and friend.

‎

‎"Oh my gosh finally some good news about your love life,I can't wait to meet her. Don't forget to introduce us when she comes here. "Gabriel said.

‎

‎"So what's your name?"he asked me but I didn't react early as I was still caught up in my own world which the two of them noticed.

‎

‎"Chr..Christopher Light."I stammered a little as tears threatened to fall.

‎

‎"Oh so you are Dr.Light,the infamous surgery god of Green Hills.I'm a great fun of your works. You are more handsome in person ,it is an honor having you in my restaurant tonight."he said respectfully and I forced a smile.

‎

‎"It's my pleasure.I need to visit the washroom. Please where is it?"I asked as I needed to leave or I wouldn't be able to hold my tears any longer.I nodded when he gave me the direction and I quickly stood up and headed to the washroom.

‎

‎I broke down to the floor as my tears flowed down nonstop on my face. The pain was unbearable as my heart ached.He had a girlfriend after all this time. So these past five years were just wasted just like that. I never ever stood a chance.
