‎Mak was so proud and happy for her best friend but she couldn't stop the thought behind her mind of what Justin was doing right now. Was he okay? What would happen between them now that he had lost whilst her best friend had won. It would be so awkward. That, she was sure of.

‎

‎"Hey Mak,I won"she beamed with happiness as she hugged her best friend and Mak joined her.

‎

‎"Yeah I knew you would win.I'm so happy for you. "Mak told her best friend.

‎

‎"How was my speech?Did I do it well?"she asked Mak once she retracted herself from her embrace.

‎

‎"It was so excellent .After all,I wrote it for you."Makayla said with pride.

‎

‎"Yeah right."Lucy said as she smiled.

‎

‎"Where is Justin?"August asked all of a sudden and Lucy turned her head sideways as she searched for Justin.

‎

‎"Yeah,where is he?Won't he come and congratulate me?"she asked looking a little annoyed.

‎

‎"Did you ask of his whereabouts simply to gloat at him?" Mak asked as she could see right through him.She was happy for him also because he was Lucy's boyfriend but she won't let him mess with Justin.

‎

‎"What!,of course not."he lied.

‎

‎"Come on,I know you Augie."Lucy said.And he sighed.

‎

‎"Fine, I wanted to gloat at me but just a little."he admitted.

‎

‎" He has carried the 'hottest boy'title for far too long." Augie explained.So he cared about these things too. No wonder he and Lucy were such a perfect match. Birds of a feather,flocked together.She thought.

‎

‎"How about you go and look for him and console him?I would be feeling hurt too if I was in his shoes."she reasoned to her best friend.

‎

‎"He said he wanted to be alone."Makayla told her best friend.

‎

‎"And do you think he meant that?he probably didn't want to be a burden on you .She explained and Mak thought of what she had said.

‎

‎"Now go and find him . Worriedness for him is written all over your face. "She stated to her friend and August nodded.Mak felt a little embarrassed that they had noticed . She decided to listen to her best friend and headed outside as she saw Justin go there earlier.

‎

‎As soon she stepped outside,she saw him sitting on the bench they were sitting on earlier and was about to walk to him when she stopped in her tracks.

‎

‎She stood aside as she watched Bianca,Justin's ex walk to him and gave him a bottle of water to drink. He took it  from her and nodding in gratitude,opened it and started to drink.

‎

‎Mak somehow felt unworthy since she wasn't the one doing that for him. She should have insisted on following him earlier. Why was she so foolish when it came to these things? She saw how Justin's face look so sad and dejected. He really cared about the Prom King thing after all. Makayla wished she could turn back time and vote for him as many as she could but she knew better than anyone that was impossible. After all,the saying goes;'Don't cry over spilt milk'.

‎

‎It seemed Bianca was doing a great job being there for him and Mak didn't want to disturb them so she was about to leave when she saw something she wished she had never seen.

‎

‎Justin was kissing Bianca. He had leaned in for a kiss. She would have felt slightly better if she kissed him but it wasn't so. Her heart squeezed in pain and she started to suffocate. The scene in front of her was too much for her to take.Justin was really kissing Bianca.She felt it was impossible so she closed her eyes tightly praying to God that maybe she was just hallucinating but she opened her eyes and they were still kissing. She totally felt numb and tears started to flow down on her face uncontrollably.Her heart squeezed more and she held her chest as a moan escaped her lips.

‎

‎Not able to bear it anymore,she entered back into the ballroom and decided to look for her best friend who was suddenly no where to be found. She searched for Augie too but didn't find him and realized the two had gone somewhere . She tried calling Lucy but she wouldn't answer the phone. She was feeling hurt right now and all she needed was to go home,she checked the time and it was now eight p.m. She couldn't wait for an hour here for her dad to come so she decided to board a taxi.

‎Heading outside,she bumped into the last two people she wanted to see right now. She saw them hold hands which added pain to the her already agonizing heart.

‎

‎"Makayla, we are back together again. Hope that's okay with you?"Bianca asked as she got closer to Justin to proof what she was saying was not a bluff. Mak didn't mind her and starred at Justin for explanation but he averted his gaze once their eyes met.

‎

‎Right now all she wanted to do was vent her anger on him.Was he just messing with her from the beginning when he asked her to be his date and even kissed her?Why did he do that to her?

‎

‎And as if Bianca could hear her thoughts,she said; 

‎

‎"Justin only approached you just to make me feel jealous,But now that our dispute has been cleared he doesn't need you anymore."

‎

‎Makayla felt completely heartbroken when she heard such an unreasonable excuse. So that's why he did all those things?To get his girl back.

‎

‎Unable to stand their sight or afraid she would break down in front of them,she passed by them and decided to board a taxi. All she wanted to do wanted right now was to go home and cry herself to sleep and hope all this was a nightmare and she would soon wake up.

‎

‎She got home and entered the house. Her family were surprised and confused to see her.

‎

‎"Honey,why are you home very early?"her mom asked

‎

‎"And where is Lucy?"Her dad asked when he didn't see Lucy with her daughter.

‎

‎"I was tired and felt uneasy so I decided to come home. Lucy isn't aware that I'm home."she lied to them. Before coming,she had dried all her tears and freshened up so her parents won't notice and interrogate her as she was in no mood to talk.

‎

‎"Are you okay sweetie?"her mom asked her, a little worried. she felt something was off with her daughter .

‎

‎"Yes I am .Just tired."Mak answered and was about to climb the stairs but stopped and turned to her dad.

‎

‎"Can you please go and pick up Lucy when it's nine"she requested.

‎

‎"Of course sweetie,isn't she sleeping over? I will do that. Good night dear."he said to his daughter who just nodded and climbed upstairs.

‎

‎The two parents looked at each other wondering what could be exactly wrong with their daughter that made her so sad.

‎

‎The dam she had held until now finally broke and her tears came down nonstop. She couldn't help but keep replaying that scene in her head. For once she thought she had gotten her fairy tale but what she got for being so delusional was a broken heart she knew couldn't be fixed.
