"Liviana!" Her brother shot up from his chair beside her as he rushed to give her a glass of water, his face contorted in worry as he stared at her. Tears streamed down his face as he crumpled to the floor.
"I thought– I thought you died." He stuttered, his body shook with violent sobs, and Liv urged her brother up to his full height and stared at his tear-stained face.
"I would never leave you on your own." She smiled, pulling her younger brother into a hug, his sobs never calmed. Instead, he cried harder in her embrace.
"You were passed out for three days. The doctor said your erine had been completely stable, yet you never woke up. If you die—" his sentence was cut short by his sobs, his hands fisting her nightgown, refusing to leave her side while she continued patting his back. A moment had passed before Andy's tears had ceased; his face was swollen beyond comprehension, his cheeks were flushed red, and his hair fell to his eyes as he stared at his sister with glossy eyes.
The door to the room opened silently, and Cynthia, along with a man in a doctor's coat, walked in. At their entrance, Andy cleared his throat before he stood by Liviana's bedside. Cynthia reached for her forehead, feeling her temperature before releasing a sigh in relief.
"You said I was out for three days? What exactly happened?" Liv asked, taking a sip of water that Lysander had given to her earlier. The doctor sighed while he checked her pulse.
"Your erine was completely stable, yet you fainted. The only conclusion that could be reached was physical and emotional strain." He drew a rael and placed it on the back of her hand. The piece of paper glowed for a moment before it stopped and detached from her hand.
"Everything is fine. The report is fine." He handed the paper to Cynthia; her eyes scanned the sheet, noting nothing out of the ordinary, before giving the paper to Liv, whose eyes focused on the erine content within her. It was pink. Pink was normal. It had never been pink before.
"Are you sure the results are correct? It's never been pink before. My erine vessel has always fluctuated between yellow and orange." She asked, pointing to the erine column. Lysander nodded beside her.
"Yes, my lady. Your erine is perfectly stable." The doctor responded with a small smile on his face. 'What a quack.' The twins thought.
"I still want suppressors. This may only be temporary." She sighed as she placed her arm over her eyes. The doctor furrowed his brow before turning to Cynthia as if getting her approval.
"Do as she says." She nodded, and only then did he scribble on the piece of paper before handing it to her. "It's quite strong, so once every two days on an empty stomach."
The three were left on their own as Morris led the doctor out. Cynthia stood beside Liv as she checked her temperature with her hand. "Do you have any other ailments that I should be aware of?" She questioned as she raised a brow.
"Well, other than my erine reserves being either too high or too low, there's nothing much." She sighed, turning her gaze back to the report beside her. Lysander sat worry-stricken, contemplating whether to speak or not.
"Well– I— no, I shouldn't ..." He mumbled under his breath. "Well? Well what?" Liviana prodded, tilting her head lower to look at her brother's face.
"It's growing at a faster pace. When I checked earlier, your reserves were flooding. Your raw erine may just burst out if you don't control it well." He mumbled, running a hand through his hair. The older woman sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose.
"How did you maintain your erine at a stable rate all this time?" She turned to Liv, who said nothing. "Suppressors, they slow down the growth," Andy responded, staring at his sister, who held her head low; only she knew how to handle it, yet she said nothing.
"Too much is not healthy." The woman sighed, 'Like I didn't know that,' Liv thought to herself as she held her head with her hands.
"I had the kitchen prepare soup along with a cranberry pie for dessert." Liv hated cranberries. "I'll have the soup, just no pie." She negotiated. "Talk to Morris. I don't know anything." Cynthia waved her hand as she left the room.
"Don't you just love cranberries, such great food, especially when you're sick?" Lysander sighed dreamily, his eyes sparkling as he directed a smirk at his sister.
"You hate me." She groaned.
"No doubt about that." He laughed as he plopped his head on her bed.
The two remained in comfortable silence, neither saying a word as they lost themselves in their own thoughts. Genevieve knocked on the door twice before she peeked her head through.
"My lady! Are you feeling better? Do you still have a fever? Should I run you a bath? Have you eaten yet?" The woman fussed about, her hands doing a little bit of everything as she rushed about the room. Andy stifled a laugh as Liv let out a small giggle.
"I assure you, Genevieve, I'm okay. Don't fret too much." She smiled. Just as Genevieve began to speak, a knock on the door garnered her attention, and the woman rushed to open it.
"It's the head butler. Shall I let him in?" She asked, "You should, Genevieve. I have food for the young lady." The man sounded exasperated from behind the door. Genevieve did not open it.
"Let him in, Genevieve," Liv laughed. Andy leaned against the chair, his tear-stricken face a sight for sore eyes.
"Sir, I believe you should head back to your room and rest. I assure you I have everything under control here." Morris spoke as he pushed the tea trolley towards Liviana's bed. Andy nodded as he pushed his hair back and made his way out. The older man handed Liv a plate of potato soup as he began fixing up the place around her.
"Why is it spicy?" She grimaced as she placed the spoon on the plate. The man sighed "I assure you the spice is at a normal level. The heat you feel is because you are recovering."
"I don't want it." She mumbled. "My lady, you must eat." He spoke as if he were coaxing a child. "The head butler is right, my lady. You must eat to get better." Genevieve spoke as she placed a glass of citrus juice before her. With much resistance, she finally caved and ate half the bowl; the two individuals around her seemed to be grateful for the small victory they achieved.
A slice of cranberry pie was placed before her "I am not having that," she decided. "My lady. Cranberry is good for erine issues. You must have at least half, or you may have the fruit itself if you choose." He negotiated.
"Is it sour…" she asked as she picked up the fork. The man smiled "Not as much as the fruit."
