Love in High Heels & Headlines

Chapter One: The Bell Rings Twice

Chapter One: The Bell Rings Twice

Feb 12, 2026

Thripthi stood before the mirror, adjusting the delicate folds of her ivory kurta. It wasn’t just clothing—it was her armor. The soft fabric carried memories of victories past: exams aced, presentations delivered, and moments when she had needed courage. Today, courage was her companion again.

Her reflection was striking. Long, silky hair framed her face, cascading like a waterfall. Her eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint, the kind that made people wonder what she was thinking. Her smile was warm yet confident, a smile that could soften the hardest heart. Thripthi wasn’t just beautiful—she was magnetic. People often said she was the kind of woman who left a room brighter than she found it.

But beauty was not her pride. Her pride was her ambition, her discipline, and her refusal to settle for anything less than excellence. She believed in kindness over wealth, heart over appearances. That belief had carried her here, to the towering headquarters of Zenith Global Enterprises.

The Arrival

The building rose into the sky like a monument of ambition. Glass walls reflected the morning sun, and the marble floors inside gleamed with precision. Employees hurried through the lobby, their voices hushed, their eyes alert. Everyone seemed to carry the weight of working at the number one company in the world.

Thripthi walked with measured steps, her heels clicking softly against the polished floor. She noticed the whispers—about him. Dev. The CEO. His name was everywhere, spoken with awe and envy.

“Did you see him yesterday?” one woman whispered to another.
“He’s perfection. That jawline, those shoulders… and he’s so young!”
“Forget the looks. He’s the CEO of Zenith Global. Do you know what that means? He’s untouchable.”

Thripthi smiled faintly. She wasn’t here to swoon. She was here to prove herself.

The receptionist greeted her warmly. “Ms. Thripthi, welcome. You’ll have three rounds of interviews today. Please proceed to Conference Room A.”

Round One: The Panel

Three executives sat across from her, their expressions sharp, their pens poised.

Interviewer 1: “Why should Zenith Global hire you as the CEO’s personal assistant?”
Thripthi (smiling): “Because I don’t just manage schedules—I manage chaos. And I do it with precision and a little bit of fun. You’ll never find me flustered, even when the world is on fire.”

The panel exchanged glances. One of them leaned forward.
Interviewer 2: “Fun? This is Zenith Global. We don’t hire for fun.”
Thripthi (calmly): “Then perhaps that’s why you need me. Even the sharpest minds need balance. I bring discipline, yes—but also the spark that keeps people human.”

Silence followed. Then, a faint nod.

---

Round Two: The HR Challenge

A senior HR manager entered, her eyes scanning Thripthi like a hawk.
HR Manager: “Dev is known for being demanding. How will you handle his intensity?”
Thripthi (steady): “Intensity doesn’t scare me. It inspires me. If he pushes hard, I’ll push back with solutions. I’m not here to be a shadow—I’m here to be a partner in making things work.”

HR Manager: “And if he criticizes you?”
Thripthi (with a mischievous smile): “Then I’ll thank him for noticing. Criticism means he’s paying attention. And attention is the first step to trust.”

The HR manager raised an eyebrow, impressed despite herself.

---

Round Three: The CEO

The door opened. The air shifted. Dev walked in.

He was everything the whispers had promised—broad shoulders, sharp jawline, eyes that carried both ambition and mystery. His presence filled the room, commanding without effort. He sat across from her, silent for a moment, studying her.

Dev: “Everyone wants this role. Why do you think you’re different?”
Thripthi (meeting his gaze): “Because I don’t fall for appearances. I believe in heart and kindness. And I think even the strongest leaders need someone who reminds them of that.”

For the first time, Dev’s lips curved into a faint smile. It wasn’t approval, not yet. But it was intrigue.

Dev: “You’re bold.”
Thripthi: “Boldness is honesty dressed in confidence.”

The room was quiet. The panel watched, sensing something unusual in the air.

---

The Exit

The interviews ended, but the tension lingered. Thripthi walked out with her head high, knowing she had left an impression. Dev watched her leave, his mind unsettled. She wasn’t like the others—she hadn’t flinched under his gaze, hadn’t tried to flatter him. She had challenged him, and he found himself curious.

For Thripthi, it was just the beginning. For Dev, it was the first crack in the walls he had built around his heart.
