Acknowledgement of Country
I want to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land this story was written on: the Wulgurukaba and Bindal people. I pay my respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging. I extend that respect to any other Aboriginal peoples, Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and First Nations Peoples from which my readers read this story on.
Disclaimer
The concept of this story is one I've been playing around with for over ten years as a fictional concept. Though, with some research, I've done my best to represent Achromatopsia in this story. I'm aware there will be many inaccuracies, especially considering the condition is very rare. I do not mean to offend anyone with this condition or alike, so if I do through misrepresentation or attempts to make terrible situations lighthearted, do let me know and I shall fix it. I am an able-bodied woman (who does have to wear glasses though thanks to my astigmatisms in both eyes), so I do not know the experiences of those with Achromatopsia. I'm relying on what I can find online.
Nonetheless, while Indigo does have Achromatopsia, a touch of fantasy elements evidently appear in this story as those with this condition do not just suddenly start seeing colour. The reason for Indigo's sudden colour vision is... well... you're just going to have to read and figure that one out.
