Welcome to Lectori Salutem! I have a bunch of running series on here that I sorta work on just for fun sometimes, but this one I'm serious about. This will be the chronological first episode of a larger graphic novel, and as far as I'm concerned this chapter is like the prequel origin for one of the queer romantic leads featured in the main story. As this is supplementary and only like 30 pages or so, look to the main graphic novel, Blue Hollow, to begin after this. I guess you could consider this a sort of prologue.
This short will have heavy themes of bullying, mental illness and self harm, with multiple depictions of blood, so beware to those squeamish about those things! I promise it has a positive ending!
Something terrible is happening to Bill Hargrove. He doesn't know what it is, but it keeps on growing and growing inside of him. His dreams are more and more troubled and he wakes up with blood in his mouth. Sequestered away at a prestigious boarding school in Rhode Island, bullying, violence and neglect force him to turn to his only salvation: Books. As an avid fantasy reader, he relies on books to take him away from ugly reality. But at what point does fantasy and reality merge? And what kinds of dreams does someone trapped between worlds really have?
The chronological first part of the longer series; Blue Hollow, an lgbtq+ gothic ghost & love story set in rural Appalachia in the year 1997.
