He opened his eyes and gasped.
Chiara immediately turned around and ran toward Philip to treat him. “A-are you okay? Daline’s coming in a moment, don’t worry!”
Philip stared straight into Chiara’s eyes, they seemed… different somehow. They were filled with terror as if she had seen multiple horror movies between the weird-dreams-no-one-can-fucking-understand hour (12 am) and the witching hour (3 am). Chiara was scared of nothing and no one, not even watching horror movies between these times of the day.
Something was off.
“Chiara,” Philip asked, “what’s happening?”
The other teen turned around. “You’ve been in a coma for two years. Something, something happened...” Chiara choked on her words.
Daline, along with Cherry and Maria, entered the room and immediately surrounded Philip. Maria ripped off Philip’s shirt while Cherry pulled out a tube from her backpack. Daline took out a knife and positioned it around his belly button. Philip’s eyes went wide and he screamed before passing out.
The second time today, Philip had awoken.
This time, there was a tube in his stomach. And Chiara wasn’t with him anymore. In her place, there were multiple people. Daline was monitoring his heartbeat, Cherry was caressing his forehead with her eyes closed (not noticing that he was awake), and Thomas, his boyfriend, pacing around the room, a worried expression on his face.
Cherry opened her eyes and noticed that Philip was awake. She softly smiled and closed her eyes again, not acknowledging the fact.
It was Daline who told Thomas. She saw his widened sky blue eyes staring back at her and called for Thomas to come to her side. He immediately did so and, seeing his boyfriend’s eyes open, shrieked in excitement, annoying Cherry who was calmly caressing the teen.
Thomas stayed by Philip’s side for the rest of the day. He still had that tube in his stomach, which annoyed him.
“What is that?” Philip asked, frowning.
Daline detached herself from the monitor and then noticed what Philip was talking about. “Feeding tube.”
Philip scowled. “Feeding tube! But I can eat perfectly fine!”
Daline shook her head. “No, you can’t. It’s a miracle you can even talk.”
Thomas squeezed Philip’s hand. The other teen grunted. Cherry rubbed his cheek, the gesture telling him to calm down. Soon enough, within ten minutes, Philip was asleep again.
The third time that Philip woke up, it was 3 am. Thomas was laying at his left; Cherry at his right. Maria, instead of Daline, was up and monitoring his heartbeat. She noticed that he was awake.
“Hey.” Maria looked down.
Philip looked away. “Hey.” He then lifted his head to face Maria. “Where’s everyone else. Like, Keina or Elliot or Chiara, I haven’t seen her since this morning.”
“Actually,” Maria started. looking up. “It’s three am. You’ve been sleeping since noon yesterday.”
Philip frowned. “What about Keina, Elliot, and Chiara. Where are they?”
Maria sighed. “I dunno. They set out after you went back to sleep, haven’t heard of them since.”
Philip nodded, then laid back down.
Again, his eyelids started to droop and again, he went to sleep.
Math wasn’t one of Thomas’ strongest subjects.
This is for Philip. he thought to himself, Remember, this is for your boyfriend, you can’t let him down.
Keina rubbed her eyes. “Thomas, hurry up.”
The other teen sweated. “Sorry!”
Thomas finished his calculations and gave the paper to Elliot. If he's so smart, he thought to himself, why didn't HE do the calculations.
Elliot smiled. Then, he looked up to face Thomas. "You did good," he congratulated. "A bit off, but good."
That was enough for Thomas.
The rest of the day, Thomas, Daline, Cherry, and Maria were constantly caring for Philip, who had so many things wrong with him. He didn't even look like a human being at this point. But he still loved him. Still would kiss him or make-out with him, if given the permission. Philip was still Philip, even with all the scars.
Philip now has a tube to help him breathe, along with his feeding tube. That makes two tubes.
The teen doesn't particularly like the tubes but keeps them in because they helped him in his recovery. It went slowly, but surely and soon, Philip was on his way to full recovery.
