Leah Clearwater never thought she'd end up here, but she couldn't help but wonder if it was all meant to be?
She had a job now, something that at least gave her a sense of purpose—working at the local grocery store. It wasn’t glamorous. Hell, it was barely even respectable in her eyes. But it was steady, and it kept her busy, which was more than she could say for most things in her life lately.
Things weren’t so different from what they had been, but now, with her new place in Jake’s pack, she was able to keep her distance from Sam. No more awkward run-ins, no more dealing with his constant attempts to smooth things over. Jake had a way of keeping everyone in line. It was the least he could do for her, after everything they'd been through together. And for Leah, the distance from Sam was a relief.
Still, being in Jake’s pack wasn’t perfect either. There was always the presence of them—Jacob and his damn imprint on Renesmee. Every time Leah thought about it, she felt a strange mixture of rage and disgust. She couldn’t accept it. She wouldn’t. She wasn’t sure if she could ever look at him the same way again. It was like watching the world shift, the rules change, and realizing that you truly no longer had any say in it. In her eyes Jacob was like Quill but worse because Quil at least imprinted on a human ( yes she’s young but complaining can only do so much) Jacob on the other hand…A half breed freak of nature who sucks blood and can force her memories into another's mind by touch.
She wasn’t even sure when her relationship with Jacob had gone from Pure dislike to friendly banter to this awkward, strained thing. She didn’t hate him, not exactly, but she couldn’t pretend to be okay with the imprint. So, she kept her distance. Pack meetings were work, not social events. She hardly spoke to him anymore unless it was absolutely necessary.
Then there was Seth. Her little brother, once the happy, energetic kid who followed Jacob around like a puppy, had grown up. He was starting to become more...Normal?
He acted more like a teenager now, full of moods and frustrations that seemed to come out of nowhere. And she didn’t know how to deal with it when he would get mad at her for things non Jacob related, but honestly she preferred this compared to the crazed Seth from before.
Her days were full now, between work and online classes. She was working toward becoming a teacher for the Rez school, something that kept her mind occupied and helped her look forward to the future. Maybe she could do something good for the younger generations coming up—make sure they didn’t get stuck in the same cycles of messiness that had entangled her life. She could teach them something real, something that didn’t involve werewolves or vampires or imprints.
something only she could truly rule over in her life.
