Ya'know.
Its a strange thing to be inspired. To see someone else do something and then suddenly you're like- Holy shit I wanna do that to!
You see, thats partially how Kirishima felt when he looked up from the side walk he was walking on, holding tight to his mothers hand. He was 8 years old, and he could see people through the window, all the kids around his age bouncing around and giggling as they danced.
He watched for a long time, his mother talking to another woman Kirishima didn't know.
He could see how much fun they were having, and he looked up at the lettering across the window, the words reading "UA dance Academy".
He was entranced, he wanted to do that. He stared at a particular blond boy, the kid being almost the same age as everyone else in that room, but he danced better, smoother.
"Ma..."
"Yes honey?"
"Can I do that?" He'd said to her, staring in the window, and pointing at the other children as they all lined up in front of their instructor.
His mother had looked in the studio too, and she had sighed as she crounched down to his level,"Oh sweetheart... You know your father wouldn't approve of this... Its for little girls, not boys..."
Kirishima frowned, confused by this since the kid he was watching was also a boy,"But Ma that boy is dancing..."
His mother had sighed again, frowning some as she looked back inside. She then looked at him again, a wary look on her face,"Are you sure you wanna do this after school?"
"Yes! Yes! Can I!?" He was so excited, the thought of having that much fun was entrancing.
She gave him a questioning look, one that said that she wasn't sure of the decision. But then she sighed, smiling at him softly,"If it will make you happy... Then I suppose-"
"Waaaah! Thankyou mommy!" He'd hugged her tight, and she laughed rubbing his back gently.
"But..." She'd pulled him back gently, brushing his black hair from his face,"You can't go to the UA childrens academy... Its too expensive..."
"Thats ok Ma..."
He was so excited. So determined, he could do this. No biggie.
Like honestly, its dancing.
How hard could it be.
Boy oh boy don't he wish he was still a naive 8 year old.
"Keep your leg higher!"
"I'm trying!"
"Try harder!"
"Ugh! Taishiro! I can't!" He yells as he leans back up out of the pose,"I just can't."
"Then work on it tonight..." His instructor says as he walks to the other students,"I want to talk to you after class Kirishima."
"Fine." He says shortly, angry. Hes been working on it for fucking ever. Why can't he get it?
"Ya'know Kirishima..." Monama grins from the other side of the room,"If you hold your torso better... You'll get it."
Kirishima rolls his eyes as he places his hand back against the rail, stretching.
"Dude!" There's a punch against his shoulder,"Don't listen to Monoma man hes an ass... And you're rocking that new hairdo kiri... Red suits you..."
"Thanks Kami..." Kirishima murmurs as he stretches his leg out, going down into a split, pulling his back leg up to the back of his neck.
Denki shakes his head,"Fucking- man how can you do that!?"
"Practice." Kirishima grins at him.
"No. Dude you've known how to do a fucking split since you were like 9! We're all 16 now dude you can't tell me its all practice!"
"Its all practice." Kirishima chirps and his friend smacks him on the head hard.
"So..." Denki sighs,"We're going to highschool soon..."
"Uhh... I think I know that Kami."
"No god- Kiriiii!" The blond grumbles, sitting next to the red head as he sighs yet again,"I mean... What school are you going to?"
"I'm actually thinking of finishing out at UA..." Kirishima murmurs, crossing his legs.
"What- really?" Denki stares at him wide eyed,"Dude that place is expensive..."
"I know..."
"Then how the hell do you plan to get in?"
"You can get in if you do good with the written exam... And you have to do a dance routine..." Kirishima says,"And if I work hard enough I can get in without any fees..."
Denki furrows his brows,"Wow really?"
"Yep." Kirishima says, sliding his foot out to untie his red converse from his feet.
Denki sighs,"Dude will your dad even let you go to UA?"
"Fuck Denki I dunno... You know how he is..." Kirishima mutters, sliding his hand up his socked foot to massage them''v
Denki nods as he lays back against the floor, the room empty as his voice echoes,"I wish we were like those rich kids that got into UA just because their parents can pay for it all year..."
Kirishima nods, frowning some,"Yeah... I know..."
"Kirishima..."
Kirishima looks over to see his teacher and he huffs, sighing as he stands.
"Kaminari what are you still doing here?" Taishiro raises a brow as the other boy stands up.
"Waiting on kirishima sir!" He says with a wide grin. He pats kirishima on the shoulder leaning close as he whispers,"Mina said she'd go and get Sero... Thats why she left so early today..."
"Doesn't sero have football today?" Kirishima murmurs back.
"Yeah thats why mina went to get him..." Denki smirks,"Good luck with the boss man..."
Kirishima snorts,"Yep..."
He frowns some as he watches his friend head down the hall towards the outside door, and his instructor walks forward.
"You ready?" Taishiro asks.
"Yep..." Kirishima murmurs, smiling as his instructor walks into the room, and plugs up his cellphone to the speakers.
Kirishima sighs as he stands there, He slides his converse back on, having forgot his extra lesson. He then stands in the middle of the room, letting his body go lose, and pushing any thoughts from his brain.
The world goes blank to him, and when he heres the first beats of the music he listens to it in his head, and as the first word emits from the speakers, his body moves like instinct.
~Thought I found a way, Thought I found a way, yeah~
He isn't sure why, or for what reason, but when he dances.
It feels so free. He can push anything from his mind and just move his body to the music, it feels like hes allowed to express himself in ways he normally isn't allowed to.
He knows Taishiro is watching him, judging his moves and stance. But the instructor stays quiet, saying nothing, so he keeps going.
~Isn't it lovely, all alone? Heart made of glass, my mind of stone. Tear me to pieces, skin to bone. Hello, welcome home~
Is it weird how all he can hear is the music? The way his body moves to it on instinct...
Hes always loved it, even before he asked to start dance classes after school, he found music entrancing. He constantly wanted to dance to it.
But his father.
Kirishima misses his step, tripping and messing it up as he stumbles.
The music cuts off, and he growls frustrated as he kicks at the floor softly, senselessly.
"You do realize that this entrance exam to get into UA is a week from now..."
"I know..." Kirishima mutters as his instructor walks up to him.
"Whats up? You don't normally miss your stepping..." Taishiro raises his brows,"You're an excellent dancer so there must be something if you missed your footing..."
The red head shrugs some,"Its nothing... Just me being a stupid teenager..."
Taishiro stares at him for a long moment before sighing,"Well... Do you want to try it again?"
"Yes!" Kirishima says urgently, running back over to the middle of the room, taking his place and readying himself.
Taishiro laughs some,"Well... We'll do it one more time... And when Kaminari and Ashido come back... They'll join us..."
Kirishima furrows his brows in confusion,"Um... Huh?"
"They're planning to go to UA as well..." Taishiro smiles, and his instructor holds up his phone, showing messages from Denki and Mina,"Denki just informed me that you inspired him... And Mina wants to go too... I believe all of you will make it... You're all exceptional..."
Kirishima smiles,"You really think that?"
"Of course!" The blond chuckles,"You're my students after all... I must've done something right if you all can dance so well, hm?"
Kirishima nods, taking his place again,"Thanks sir."
Yeah. He can do this, he'll do fine with the exam.
How hard could it be?
