No one was supposed to die. In fact, no one was supposed to even come.
But they did it anyway. I did it anyway. And now, because of my foolish decision to get hyper about a letter in the mail, I was stuck in a room. Five other chairs were lined around mine, and Mia- Mary's maid- paced the length of the room, stepping over all of the parts covered in the silky red liquid. "She's dead," Mia shivered, bobbling her way through another round.
Zane eyed her. "We can all see that, Mia."
Mia spun to face us, tears in her eyes, hands crossed. "She's dead! How do you guys not care about it more?" she spat as the tears were let out of her watergate like eyes.
I shrugged, then traced my eyes to the corpse. "Of course, I'm surprised but the old fool deserved it," I heard Anthony say. My eyes darted to him, eyebrows scrunched.
"And why would that be, Mr. Case?" I asked. He sucked in a breath, stood up and straightened out his dark blue suit.
"I mean think about it. Why would she ever call us here and then as soon as we come, she dies?"
"Obviously she wanted to frame one of us." My eyes peeled away from Anthony and darted to Ivy.
"Or," I suggested, looked to the wooden floor painted red, "Someone in this room wanted to kill her and took this party as an opportunity."
Ethan snorted. "So you think one of us killed Mary Blackwell?"
My eyes peeled away from the ground and to him. "Yes sir."
Zane tapped his foot on the ground. "Can I be excused from this?"
I shook my head resulting in him throwing his hands in the air. "She was my wife! Why would I want to kill her?"
I shrugged. "I don't know but you two were about to get a divorce, right?"
Zane flushed red. "That's none of your concern."
I stood up, posture straight. "I think it is because none of us are leaving this room until we find out who did this."
Ethan opened his mouth to protest but I shut him up. "And don't any of you dare to leave this house because none is leaving until we solve this."
Ethan cleared his throat loudly. "Well little Miss Detective. Who do you think did it?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. Guess we'll have to find out."
