Hi! Welcome to Intro to the New Realm 101. I don't take responsibility for any misinformation in this lesson. I'm only relaying what've I've been told, experienced, or absorbed while sleeping through class. Shall we begin?
We are all from the Ancient Realm — a place where the Gods, cultivators, and humans lived amongst each other. A couple of thousands of years ago, when the Gods decided to retire, the New Realm was built. Here the descendants of the Ancient Realm live together but separate. The cultivators all decided to not interfere in human lives unless necessary. And the humans don't bother us unless there are some monsters to hunt or something. We still have access to the Ancient Realm, though. Well, I don't have access that's more of a chief, high lord benefit. Anyway, the New Realm opened, and everyone found a nook to settle down in.
First, there is the ever snobbish Celestial Summit tucked away in their snowy mountainscape. The founders of the Summit were of the traditionalist variety. So its descendants are sticklers for the rules. Home to the most extensive library in the New Realm, the Summit is known for recording the history of the world. Every few years, they hire new scribes and adventurers to contribute to their evergrowing collection. But don't believe everything you read from them. The Summit has always been criticized for recording history through a somewhat biased lens. There is a 'Head Keeper,' and their family, are the authority of the community. This title cannot be inherited unless the new heir makes top marks on a rigorous exam. With their most significant exports is being books, paper, ink, and brushes, if you are looking for good stationery the Summit, is where to go. I'd advise against going in the winter, though, too cold.
Then there is the Misty Valley home to a previous disastrous monarchy. The Misty Valley government slowly but surely fell prey to corruption, which led to war between the Valley and the rest of the Realm. They are still recovering from what I've heard, though I don't hear much. Over the last few decades, the Realm has shunned the Valley. Maybe that'll change one day. What I do know is that if you are looking for any medicine, you should stop by. The people of Valley are supposed to be some of the best doctors out there. There are even rumors that the Valley has forbidden medical books from the Ancient Realm. I've heard that the water in the valley is so blue it's almost black. If you stop by, draw a picture for me so I can see it too.
Next is one of my favorite places, The Big Thicket! It's a humongous forest home to the Beast Tribes. Some say the Tribes are descendants of animals that eventually cultivated human forms. Others say they are humans who stumbled upon the art of animal transfiguration. Whichever one is true, it has led to seven tribes that have had like three civil wars. There's the Spider, Bird, Deer, Wolf, Bear, Cat, and Turtle Tribes. Though all the tribes are unique with their own traditions and hierarchy, a council of representatives is leading the forest. The Big Thicket is a great place to visit for gifts. They have some of the best rouge and silk in all the Realm. We visit often. I recommend going during Fall.
Next is the Moonlit Canyon home to descendants of a conservative lot. I've only ever been once cus it's far, but the Canyon is super pretty. Some people live in the walls of the Canyon, and at night, the moon lights the whole thing up, hence the name. The Canyon is also a place for internal strife, according to Hua Lian Jie. They have a royal leader and a spiritual who don't agree with each other on most days. The Canyon is responsible for some of the most beautiful structures in the realm, though. People even fight for their limited clay for their houses. Beautiful place with excellent duck stew!
Lastly, there is home, the Evergreen Mountains. Home to the wild Eternal General and her students. Evergreen is relatively new in the New Realm. Because of the hefty deposit of Ever Stone in the mountains, the floral here tend to ignore the seasons. So it feels like spring in the middle of winter most times. Not a lot of people visit Evergreen, not that I blame them. But we do get a few visitors looking for bottles of Ping Gugu's famous Golden Wine. Beside the handful of us at the estate, Evergreen is also home to some mysterious beasts from the Ancient Realm. No one is supposed to bother them. That doesn't stop them from trying to kill you if they feel like it, though. The only one who would ever live here is my insane Teacher -_-.
Then there are the humans some live close to cultivator communities; some don't. It depends on where you are in the Realm. For example, at the base of Evergreen is directly connected to a large human city. I don't know much about their politics, but I would assume it's similar to the cultivator sphere.
After reading all of this, you are probably wondering who this handsome intellectual voice is. My name is Ke Yan Mo, but we'll meet later. Before you go, though, know that this part of our story will serve as an index. So in the future, if you are lost, tap back here for clearance. Now onto some basic New Realm terminology.
