“The leg thing? What on earth is ‘the leg thing’?” I wonder aloud, glancing around the empty dorm suite before cautiously turning up my phone’s volume.
The last thing I want is to get caught scrolling videos when I’m supposed to be working—even if this suite is already cleaner than any of the others I’ve seen. Even if I’ve been cleaning these rich kid dorms for three hours already and definitely deserve a few-minute break.
As in, legitimately it’s time for one. I just never usually take them because I don’t want anyone to think I’m slacking.
But there’s no one around to think badly of me, so I lean on my broom handle, staring intently down at my phone screen as I try to watch what’s happening in the dark video that only lasts five seconds.
“How am I supposed to see what’s going on?” I ask the empty room. “That was like, all of four pixels.”
I start to scroll for another video, when a low voice says from just behind my ear, “Then how about I show you?”
I yelp, jumping so hard that my broom goes flying into the wall as I stumble backward.
“Careful,” says the guy attached to the voice, one arm behind my back as he catches me easily. “It’ll be hard to show you the leg thing if you’re in the hospital, you know. Though I’m not averse to trying.”
He’s cute. Hot, even.
Sparkling blue eyes. Messy, golden hair with a bit of a wave. A wide smirk.
“Wh-where did you—who are you?” I stutter, not sure what I want to ask first.
“Just your humble new makeout tutor, at your service,” the guy says, grinning like he’s having a great time. “But don’t worry, my services are free.”
I blink, taking a small step back.
Who on earth is this guy?
“You…live here?” I ask, glancing around the not-actually-so-empty suite. “I thought no one was here.”
“I was taking a nap,” he says with a shrug, still smirking. “But then I heard you and I couldn’t resist. After all, it’s not every day a cute girl appears in your dorm and starts watching makeout videos.”
Cute? Did he just call me cute?
Heat rushes to my face. “It’s not like that! I was just—I was cleaning—I was on my break! And I—” I turn, searching for my broom until I spot it lying on the floor beside the wall. “I have to get back to work.”
“Do you? That's a shame. Because I'm the only one home right now.” He lowers his voice, and his eyes catch mine. “And if you wanted, I could show you what the leg thing really is.”
