“Here we are!”, said Sonya Stout, as she got out of her car to enter her father’s new bakery.
She admired the huge golden plaque on the building that read, “Henry’s Bakery”. She walked over to the building following her brother, sister, and father. When she walked in, there were beautiful cream colored pillars that glistened along with the chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Her father walked over to the luxurious marble counter with a display case 3 feet long.
“Woooo!”, yelped her Dad. “It came out so cool! Thank you guys for helping me out with my business.” He reached out to hug them softly.
“No problem, Dad!”, said the siblings, hugging their father tightly.
“And...I brought a surprise along with us!”, announced Dad.
“What is it?”, asks Sonya’s older brother, Zachary, with a puzzled look on his face yet quite excited.
“Follow me.” So, the family follows him through the dining area, front door, and pathway, back to their car. He carefully lifts up the trunk to reveal a large supply of baking ingredients.
“I thought we should make a family cake to celebrate and settle into OUR new bakery! How does that sound?”, said Dad, with a proud look on his face.
“That sounds great!”, Sonya replies.
They all head back inside to the kitchen and take out their materials as a team. As they begin, Sonya’s father advises that she puts up the “Grand Opening” sign before the next day, or the day of the opening.
While the rest of the family continues cooking and mixing along in the kitchen of the bakery, Sonya walks into the kitchen and grabs a large poster and writes, “Grand Opening!”, and grabs a roll of tape and a ladder. She goes outside and tapes it to the front of the shop beneath the golden plaque. Then she heads back to the kitchen to put the supplies away. As she puts the tape in a cabinet underneath the marble counter, she spots a small box wrapped in shiny red ribbon along with a sticky note. She carefully picks it up and shows it to her family.
“What’s that?”, asked my dad.
“I dunno. I found it underneath the counter.”, I reply.
“You know I’m curious! Open it!”
I agree and place it on the counter as my family spectates me and Zachary hands me a pair of kitchen scissors from the back counter.
