Once upon a time, there was a large island, on which two kingdoms were built. Cyndaera was a great and noble power. Its king and queen ruled with an iron fist, never allowing any other kingdom to take them for granted, just as the kings and queens of Cyndaera's past had done.
Gaisei, on the other hand, had slowly become ridden with poverty and famine. So when their prince, Gregory, turned 18, a deal was struck with the king and queen of Cyndaera. He was to wed their daughter, Princess Lindsey, and Gaisei was to be absorbed by Cyndaera. And so Gaisei ceased to exist, and the entire island that the two were located on, came officially under Cyndaera’s rule.
When Prince Gregory and Princess Lindsey were 28, the two were blessed with their son, Kaleb. Kaleb held the hair of his mother, a sweet, wavy strawberry blond, and the eyes of his father, a striking gray. Kaleb was celebrated as a symbol of the unification of the two kingdoms and cherished by the masses, and by the time he could walk, he was already being groomed to take the throne. With perfection
Two years later, Princess Elizabeth was born. A beautiful princess, sharing her brother's likeness, was fawned over by the people of Cyndaera. For all the years the Wrays had held the throne, no matter the birth order each and every child born into the family must be prepared to rule. So like her brother before her, Elizabeth’s first step was celebrated not because it is a milestone of which most parents tear up, but because it was seen as a step toward holding the throne. With perfection.
Two more years later, the Wrays welcomed another baby boy into their perfect family, Prince Joshua. From a young age, the royal family found Joshua much more reluctant to do as he was told. He much rather played than worried about which fork to use when. But even through his reluctance, Joshua continued to be taught to hold the throne. With perfection.
By the time Princess Lindsey and Prince Gregory were 35, the current king and queen decided that Lindsey was ready to take and hold the throne. With perfection of course. And so with three perfect children, and a perfect husband, Lindsey became the perfect Queen of the perfect kingdom.
And so just as she was taught, Queen Lindsey ruled Cyndaera with perfection. Cyndaera had the perfect royal family. Everything was just as it had been planned. Until it wasn’t.
Then at age thirty-nine, Lindsey took a pregnancy test. And at age thirty-nine, Lindsey and Gregory watched as the pregnancy test came back positive. And at age thirty-nine, Lindsey and Gregory sat their eleven-year-old, nine-year-old, and seven-year-old down to prepare them for a new sibling.
But it was okay. The Wrays could- no- would adjust to a fourth child. It was going to be a bit younger than its siblings, but the Wrays would adapt. They would still be perfect. The perfect life plan of the Wray family would not be deterred. Until it was.
Lindsey went into labor at age forty. And at age forty, Lindsey and Gregory welcomed Prince Henry into the world. And at age forty, Lindsey and Gregory welcomed Princess Hannah into the world. And at age forty, Lindsey and Gregory welcomed Prince Holden into the world. And at age twelve, ten, and eight, Kaleb, Elizabeth, and Joshua stared down at their three new siblings, no longer sure of their futures that had been so laid out before.
