Myth of the Shadow Huntress

Introduction

Introduction

Jan 30, 2023

Hi there,

Yes, I know it is a little bit strange writing a few words as a newbie before even releasing a proper first page, but I wanted to give you a small heads up before you dive into the following story.

The first and most important part I should address directly at the beginning, is, that I have no skill or training being a writer. What you see is a combination of different ideas, that materialized over the past 20 years, always with an idea of putting them one day together as a story. So… what you will read is something that might not really meet the standard you are familiar with of writers on the web.

There will be a lot of problems with the way it is framed, with the structure and even the spelling. I tried my best with editing everything and finding what I could with the tools I have, but in the end, I fear there still is a lot of problems left, that I might not be able to see.

This is where I come with the second reason, I write this little introductory.

For the moment, there only exist 5 chapters to this story. I wasn’t sure if it is worth to continue writing, or if it so bad, that it should just vanish in the depths of the internet and my mind forever. But should people be interested to continue reading it, and maybe someone brave enough to help me out editing this “mess” (I can’t pay them though), this might turn out to be a nice little project in the long run. But I am also very aware, in a time, where AI created content is what people want and handmade stuff is looked down on, it is the worst of times for something like this, but I still wanted to try.

And yes, I am open for feedback in any way, be it bad (mostly – I fear) or good. I would be happy about it, because it also helps me to see if I am on the right track or if I really should let it go and better never try writing a story again and leave it to the experts out there.

Oh, and I should apologize to everyone out there for this very bad book cover. I had an idea and had to use what I had to hand to create it, because I didn’t want to “steal” from someone, and I sadly don’t have the money to commission someone for this.

So, again, welcome to the world of Fae Valla, an ex-mercenary, who has to learn, that what she knew might not be the full truth.

As it so happens, I consider it quite normal for writers to address their audience in the first chapter.

However, if you want to convince someone to 'buy' your product, it might not be the smartest move to tell them to expect the worst. :D

Novels have a hard time 'selling' anyway, because, unlike with comics, it takes some time and effort to consume them.

On the flip side, we can tell an entire story with relatively little effort on the creators end, meaning that the content can be available a lot faster.

As for the cover, don't worry about it too much. My covers aren't any better either. :D

The cover may make people interested. But it's your story that makes them stay.

Now, let's say what you've cooked up.
