I was born on March 14, in the year of the acorn. When I was born, everyone said that they had great hopes of me because of my older brothers. They had all discovered their powers as the first in their trust. But those people were wrong. I was the last of two people. That meant if they found their powers first, I was going to be killed. I really don't want to do that to my brothers. It's already embarrassing to be struggling in class, let alone not enhanced with powers yet. They are considered the top of the class and people are saying that they could all be nominated to be GODS someday. GODS! Imagine that, my brothers, gods. I shake my head in disbelief as I walk to the library. When I get there, I say hello to the librarians, set my bag down on my usual table and start studying. How do you retrieve a wave of electrical shock from your mind and send it to your enemy? What the heck! How am I supposed to know this? I don't even know what my power is going to be! Why should I be studying this? I'll never use this! I groan in frustration. "Shhhhh!" The people around me shush me. "Sorry!" I reply and I head towards a random aisle of books. I pretend to scan the shelf, not wanting to go back with those people shushing me. A random book falls down off the shelf, making me jump at the loud sound of it. "Miss, if you cant be quiet, well have to remove you from the premises," An old security guard says, looking really annoyed. "Sorry!" I say for the second time that day. I just want to disappear. I quickly grab the book and put it back on the shelf. I "swiftly" walk back to the table and try not to trip as I maneuver around backpacks scattered on the floor. I sigh to myself as I push open the doors and cold air rushes at my face. "Godamn it!" I say to myself, "I should have brought a hat!" I walk quickly to my house gearing myself up to see what accomplishments that my brothers did today. By the way, I might be making them sound really mean, but they're really not. They are actually really nice people. "I'M HOME!" I yell into the empty living room. "We're in here!" Dad yells back. I walk to the kitchen to find my brothers on their computers or writing furiously on paper. Most of them look up and nod at me. I take a seat next to Xavier, who has electrical powers, I think its like lightning bolts and lasers and stuff like that. I'm not really sure like I said, I'm failing that class (Just like every other class:) ). "Hey," I say to him, he looks up and smiles. "Sup' sis," he replies. I smile back and pull out my electrical book and try to answer the question from earlier. BTW (By The Way) I have eight brothers, Easton, Josh, Xavier, Daniel(or Danny), Connor, Ethan, Alexander, and Mason. "Ugh," I groan, not realizing how loud I am. "You need help?" Mason asks. "No. Samantha can figure it out for her self." Dad doesn't like anyone getting help when they could (and I quote) "use their noggin". I sigh, sinking deeper into to the chair. "You find your powers yet?" Josh asks me, "No." Easton gives me a smile and says "You get them soon." Easton is the oldest, he has strength powers and has a lot of muscles. I think of him as a teddy bear with muscles. When I was three, I loved cuddling with him, so I begged my parents for me to sleep with him. I'm waiting for him to come in right now and get into bed with me because he believes that going to sleep earlier will make you stronger. Oh, here he is.
Good Night Journal,
Samantha Malloy
