It looked like it had been killed; then killed once more.
The planet itself had once been beautiful in ways explainable and not, but like every beauty in that age it came from a source of great evil. And for some, evil always wins in the end, it never truly goes away, death the ultimate resolution. And so, the evil came and with it came a great darkness, a darkness that fed on everything but even when all the good was gone it still craved for more; it came back and tore at itself until evil was satisfied and the darkness was killed by the darkness, but evil never truly goes away. And so, the darkness left but the evil remained, dormant for thousands of years ready to be rekindled at the faintest of sparks, and now in this day and age that spark would come.
To those wise enough and those foolish enough to know what happened to the fallen planet (a seldom few for good reason) might have thought that it was a great injustice that such a terrible thing would befall them in their lives. But they would have been thought selfish and rightfully so as their forefathers or their successors would have to suffer the same fate. One, however, could not judge them too harshly as this evil presided over all other evils.
So, what was this evil? It was to be found.
Though the world had died the moons around had not and they continued their existence, seven in total were counted. These seven orbited around the fallen planet known to them as ‘The Gateway to hell’ or more commonly Tatarus.
Sellvig was the closest moon to the planet Tatarus and was split in two by the tallest and longest mountain range in the entire planetary system, running along the moon's entire circumference. To one side of the mountains lay a frozen wasteland and the other a fiery hell. This moon was inhabited by only one sentient race of creatures known as the Durmas. For thousands of years, they had lived inside the mountains rarely going outside instead spending all their time mining the many precious stones and ores. They also were master crafts building the most fearsome weapons and ships. But with the introduction of interplanetary trade and space travel the Durmas had started mining the mineral rich asteroids that surrounded their planet.
The second closest moon was known as Halstine and was by far the smallest of the seven. Halstine had once been host to only non-intelligent beings. However, when the Planetary Union had been formed in response to growing hostilities between the moons a millennium after the fall of Tatarus, and the introduction of space flight the Union needed somewhere to head their operations. They wanted it away from any outside influence and chose the small moon of Halstine. Other than the vast Planetary Union headquarters the moon also lay host to the greatest university in the system and also a small city housing all walks of life while most of the moon was left untouched.
The third planet named Kuren was in a state of perpetual warfare. After the destruction of Tatarus the inhabitants of the planet which were human landed up in Kuren. Nobody knew how they got there, after all this was a thousand years before space travel. This made the humans alien to the original inhabitants of the land. The Ku and the Ren hence the name, these sentient beings had lived together peacefully from the beginning of time. They invited the humans into their land with open arms, but soon the humans got greedy as is typical of them. They saw the similarity between their old home in Tatarus and their new in Kuren and decided that they should rule the moon and for the last 300 years the war has raged on unrelenting, the Ku and Ren against the humans. And that is where it all starts but before that we must understand the other 4 moons.
The fourth moon was the largest in the system, only three quarters of the planet’s size and was enveloped by one enormous city called Zeon. It was the most technologically advanced moon and was home to nearly a trillion beings. While Hallstine may be the political centre of the system Zeon (which was also the moon's name) was the economic and military superpower. Like Halstine it was inhabited by all nine sentient species.
Kyrze was the next moon and was covered in full by deep oceans and lucious forests. three sentient beings lived here, and they were the only non-humanoid intelligent creatures in the planetary system. Though the three had experienced several major wars between themselves they were currently at peace with one another.
The next two moons were the strangest. They were nicknamed Sellvig’s children as one, Philix was covered in Volcanoes, lava and ash while the other known as Isen was covered in year-round frozen oceans. These two moons were said to be inhabited by 2 different intelligent species respectively. These two species like everything about these moons were strange and not well known of but it was known that those living on Isen were extremely violent and warmongering while the other species lived on Philix were the exact opposite of those on Isen being the most peaceful intelligent species known.
And now the most important event in the last thousand years was about to happen and it would change everything!
